I think justice, because it takes into account mercy as well. Being just means being fair towards the other party, and if they did deserve mercy, that would be given as well.

Mercy.

Justice, it is the foundation of moral principle. Mercy as Lynn has pointed out can be the product of justice
17 yrs ago - Sunday 4/24/05 - 7:24:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
Justice, because it's based more on what is fair rather than what one feels.

Justice!

Justice

Justice.

Justice because...I said so.

Tough one. I would guess KikiPeepers must have stolen this one from the expired questions of a non-key member in order for her to come up with anything so decent.
If my dealings with her are any indication, justice is far more important than mercy. I'm not so sure the rest of the time, though. Just because everyone else is saying justice, I'll go with mercy being more important because if we treat each other mercifully, justice will work itself out.
17 yrs ago - Wednesday 4/27/05 - 9:55:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
Justice is ultimately more important I think. But any good justice also has a healthy dose of mercy in it.

I was hoping leaving for Lent would make you a nicer person, but I guess not UL. All that reflecting on how Jesus would live didn't make you less of a bitch? Surprising
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:00:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
You've already used that line about Lent, KikiPeepers. Get some new material. Jesus called it like it is. That's all I'm doing.
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:02:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
justice
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:20:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
You're sick if you would even compare yourself to Jesus UL ... besides the fact you're wrong, but I think you already know that. I doubt Jesus got off on making up lies about people, or trying to be mean to people for no reason. But I think you already know that too. That's what makes it so sad.
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:23:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'm going to say that justice is more important, because people can be outsmarted into thinking someone deserves mercy.
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:23:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
You're the one who started comparing me to Jesus. Personally, I find it a bit too much, but your inferiority is cute in an "E.T." kind of way.
17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:24:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think they go hand in hand. I have to see it from God's point of view. God is both just and merciful. But His mercy can't replace His justice or then He becomes a liar. God can't lie.

People want our judges to be just but they want God to be merciful.
What if a murderer said to a judge, "Come on, I know I broke the law and killed the dude, but will you just forgive me?"
It won't cut it with a judge, nor will that cut it with God.
His mercy, His forgiveness comes thru only one source...His Son.

When we finally taste God's mercy, I think it helps us strive to be more just.

17 yrs ago - Thursday 4/28/05 - 12:38:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
Both are important, but I'm going to choose mercy, because everyone has their own idea of justice.
What's justice to you may not be justice to me, but everyone understands mercy somewhat similarly.

Why is it so blatantly wrong to compare oneself to Jesus? I don't see the harm. So I'm gonna do it.

Jesus said he was the son of God. I never did that.

Jesus had a mom named Mary, I have a mom called Iðunn, though she was originally named Doris, but didn't think it was icelandic enough so she changed it.

Jesus was the son of a carpenter (or a Deity if you wanna believe that). I'm the son of a computer programmer.

Jesus always tried to do what he thought was right, so do I.

Jesus used a lot of parables and stories to make his points, I do that sometimes also.

Jesus believed the best way to treat people was to do unto them as you would have them do unto you, that is a view I share and try to live by.

Jesus wore sandals, I wear sneakers

Jesus was an Arab, I'm caucasian.

Jesus spent years hanging around in the desert, being tested and talking to animals (or something). I do YT, which is sortof the same.

16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Wednesday 7/13/05 - 9:24:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
MERCY IS FOR THE WEAK.
16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/22/05 - 10:52:23 AM EST (GMT-5)
Justice is required.
Mercy is a grace.

Justice must prevail, and must be applied to all.
Mercy is granted based on many things, or not.
Requiring, or making it expected, makes it something OTHER then Mercy.

next please

Mercy gets us nowhere while justice will keep order.

Justice...the law is what keeps us going.
16 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Thursday 8/18/05 - 4:27:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
mercy
