Should articles about the male heterosexual gender be included in gender studies journals?

Studies on female heterosexuality (i.e., women's studies, that doesn't focus on lesbians) are quite often included in the gender studies pantheon: women's studies, gay/lesbian/bi/trans studies. I'm wondering, don't male heterosexuals also have a gender? I think so. Thus, I wonder why such studies are excluded from the discipline.

The topic comes up, but usually as a comparison. My womens' studies classes all compared and contrasted men and women of either orientation.
