WELLESLEY, Mass. - Ray Kurzweil doesn't tailgate. A man who plans to live forever doesn't take chances with his health on the highway, or anywhere else. As part of his daily routine, Kurzweil ingests 250 supplements, eight to 10 glasses of alkaline water and 10 cups of green tea. He also periodically tracks 40 to 50 fitness indicators, down to his 'tactile sensitivity.'

The famed inventor and computer scientist is serious about his health because if it fails him he might not live long enough to see humanity achieve immortality, a seismic development he predicts in his new book is no more than 20 years away.

I don't think anyone will live to see immortality. Kurzweil envisions man made machines being able to do what our body cannot. Even the simplest single cell organism is vastly more complex than anything man has ever created, and I don't think we will ever equal nature.

I doubt it. Forces beyond our control might step in and pick off some of the scientists working on the immortality deal which will result in an Oscar-winning movie based on a true story and a horrible sequel.

Ah man, that is definitely one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Immortality, bah! Besides, why would anyone want to live that long? 70 years is long enough, thank you!

> 70 years is long enough, thank you!

I bet twenty bucks you'll change your mind about that by the time you are 69..

Watch, he'll probably get hit by a truck, killed in some way that has nothing to do with bad health.

Doubt it, I hope that never happens anyways

Ew, can you imagine the amount of supplements he'll be taking when he is 130?? His skin is going to look like a raisin or something. Its not like he's going to live to be 190 and still be playing baseball.

The attitude "I shall live forever or die trying" is something I think people lack more than ever. No matter how unrealistic, it's a better path, especially as people are too lazy to get up to turn the television channel, or even attempt to live healthy.
As for living forever, all that he needs can be found at http://www.alexchiu.com/

I don't believe immortality will ever become medically possible.

Also even if it did become medically possible if you didn't die of old age something else would get you.

250 supplements daily? Doesn't sound like it...
