It depends on how in depth. A love side plot isn't too bad. But an all out love scene is sort of distracting.

It depends on whether or not the movie is a romance. If it builds up to a love scene, then it's good, otherwise it's just random and dumb.

I hate the action movies where there is a love scene between the hero and love interest at the beginning, she gets killed off early, and he spends the rest of the movie getting revenge.

It doesn't necessarily ruin it, but going overboard can certainly make the movie less entertaining.

Unless it's absolutely necessary to the development of the story, it detracts from the plot.

Depends. Sometimes they're too forced.

It depends on the movie.

if it overshadows the action then yes

I'd prefer it but I hate action movies so

i think the ones in mission impossible 2 made it crappy. especially because they 'fell in love' over nothing. but then that whole movie was cheesey.

yeah, because now a days they've become so cliche and stupid that they just ruin that portion of the movie...of course, if the movie sucked royal ass, then it might actually be a good thing
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 3/24/05 - 5:17:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, they sure as hell didn't ruin Spider-man or Spider-man 2...

Not at all.

A nice love scene can make for a pleasant interlude amidst all the bloodshed, where the hero and the heroine take each other in their arms, their eyes smouldering and their bodies aflame with the heat of passion, adrenaline still pumping from the carnage they've just barely emerged alive from, their hands beginning to tear furiously at each other's clothing as his lips crush down upon hers, her anxious mouth opening to receive his thrusting tongue, their bodies becoming one as they collapse and roll and writhe, the outside world ceasing to exist as they plunge deep, deep down into the ocean depths of love and lust, an enemy helicopter gunship that they should have been watching out for suddenly rising from beyond a nearby hill, the villain at the controls snarling as he sees them sharing something that he never could share with anyone, his thumbs angrily stabbing his FIRE buttons and the gunship's rocket-pods shrieking -

Well, I agree that some love scene are good subplot. But some are just filler.

HaHa my guy does .... I don't care one way or the other, though.

Not at all.

I think so. It seems that almost every film now absolutely has to have, at all costs, a love subplot. The cliche gets a little annoying.
16 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 5/25/05 - 5:46:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
I think they're usually poorly done. The love interest is 2 dimensional and the interludes are boring and meaningless.
By the way, I'm talking about the big blockbuster action movies.

yes sometimes when the movies really exciting and stuff but all of a sudden they get real quiet and then they start moving closer and im thinking something like "Yes!! He's gonna kill her!! Yes! Kill her! Kill her!!", and then they eat each others face, and slobber everywhere :P
16 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 6/24/05 - 2:45:16 AM EST (GMT-5)
quite disappointing

I find it entertaining to watch people having sex, how about you?

I think that the action ruins action films. Big muscular guy runs away from exploding building, ooooh. I am ever so engrossed!

Yes, especially if there's a sex scene like in Matrix Reloaded. It would have been better if he's let her die.
