^Yep. Howard Huges was a raving lunatic but because he could afford to buy the assylum a hundred times over he was merely classed as eccentric.

Eccentric is just a nice way of saying someone is crazy.

I think eccentric people aren't so much crazy as they are quirky. I don't think eccentrics, in general, are violent; whereas you never know with someone who's crazy.

Yes. Being eccentric is a choice; being crazy is not.

Being eccentric is 1) having money and 2) being quirky. Being crazy is being psychotic and possibly being dangerous to yourself and others around you.

But this raises another topic: What's the difference between being crazy and being nuts? Yeah, let that one roll around in your head a little bit.

I consider myself rather eccentric. I can be a bit crazy at times, but at least I'm aware of it.

There are degress of eccentric and degrees of crazy (insane). There are those who are eccentric in that they may not choose to observe all the standard social niceties. They aren't crazy.

I think eccentric is when you know you are crazy and embrace it, a cray person has no idea and is in denial...

I consider myself to be eccentric. I'm odd but I haven't lost touch with society as a whole.

I think of eccentrics as people who might otherwise be insane but are able to function in the company of normal people, or who have the influence to function as they are and make others conform.
