In Western Judeo-Christian culture, yes. I'm torn on whether she qualifies as a scapegoat, however, if the account of the Fall in Genesis is accurate and literal.

I guess! Lol! Only you Fishie, only you.

I do blame Eve for what she did, but I find it disgusting that it was okay for Adam to say that he did it because she told him to and get away with it. He made the choice just as much as she did.

Well, if she's the original female, then I'd suppose so.

Only because I don't know who else would be.

yes and no. no because it was her fault. a scapegoat is one who doen't necessarily commit the blunder. however YES because every thing that goes wrong is attributed to her

I believe the serpent that was in the garden persuaded her to eat the apple. So although she made the wrong decision, it wasn't her idea to do it.

Of course not. Eve is the first human to make a decision to distrust God. She was the first person to sin, not a scapegoat.

Woman as a scapegoat is an archetype. There are many instances of this occuring in history and mythology.

Besides, if she hadn't eaten the apple, none of us would probably have existed. Remember they didn't know they were naked until they were expelled from Eden? Which means that in Eden they probably didn't/couldn't have sex, which means no future generations, which means no us.

I'll probably garner a lot of hatred from the women here, but I would have to say "yes." If you believe the story is true, you know Eve was told not to eat the forbidden fruit. She did. Now, as a result, the world is no longer perfect as it once was.

That is, of course, if you believe in this story from the Bible. And it also implies that this world is unbearable as it is, which it is not. Eve could be a scapegoat, but she could also be deserving of praise for bringing about life as we know it.

That's not the definition of scapegoat.
