17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 11/23/04 - 2:29:58 AM EST (GMT-5)
Too many different religions in the US to let it happen.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 11/25/04 - 11:19:34 PM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 11/25/04 - 11:23:19 PM EST (GMT-5)
no. i don't think he would even attempt this. i don't think he's that extreme.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 11/25/04 - 11:24:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd like to see him try...
...and fail
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 11/26/04 - 2:22:11 AM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Friday 11/26/04 - 2:25:09 AM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 12/8/04 - 12:04:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
people do not unerstand the concept of separation of church and state. It only means that the government cannot tell what church to attend.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 1/8/05 - 12:53:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
i didn't even know what denomination george bush was until a little while ago. i've known since john kerry was running that he was Catholic. bush just emphasizes how close he is to God and how much he prays for the victims of terror. i don't know if it's genuine or not, but he's not imposing it on anyone. i'm sure he'd love it if everyone had a faith that caused them to be productive members of society or stay off drugs or crime or not crash planes into buildings or commit suicide and homocide... that would make his job easier

"start"? hasn't it already "started"? Gay marraige and all that, the legal debate centers around religion, for instance.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/12/05 - 4:20:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
Valgal is correct.

The government shall not establish a religion. It states nothing about not having religious symbols in Public parks at Christmas Time, or about having the 10 commandments posted in a Court House.

To answer, I don't think Bush would be foolish enough to start pushing that envelope, but then hey, one never knows what dumb idea that idiot will hatch next.

17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 1/21/05 - 3:25:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
I agree with valgal. There is no such thing as seperation of church and state. It is just the stupid Anti Christ Loonys Union that is trying to suggest that. They should just live there way and let us live our way. Its not hurting any one the way it is. Most of our laws are taken from the bible as it is. Whats next, the banning of laws that are bibicaly sound like thou shalt not steal, Thy shalt not do no murder ( correct definition). What idiots. You have the right to not believe but don't push your beliefs on the rest of us that do believe and I won't push my beliefs on you. If you want to go to hell, well that is your choice.

I heard that in places in America they don't don't teach evolution - just creationist theory -that's not a seperate church and state
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 1/21/05 - 3:39:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
well, technically they can't legally teach creationism. some are trying now to teach "intelligent design" which is just creationism with a different name, but no doubt when these cases go to the courts they will rule on the side of separation of church and state. there are some places where they just don't teach evolution or creationism, which is legal...but stupid...
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 1/21/05 - 3:45:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
They can teach creationism in the context of a 'theory' to explain how the earth was formed...

"There is no such thing as seperation of church and state." -jarhead

Not according to Thomas Jefferson...
"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state."

17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 1/27/05 - 6:58:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
may i remind certain people in this thread that many of the founding fathers were deists, NOT christians. and they had a bad feeling about would-be theocrats. that's why we have the establishment clause in the first amendment.
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 2/9/05 - 8:09:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
I hope not but he did manage to ban gay marrage and that was on religious grounds.
17 yrs ago - Wednesday 6/8/05 - 4:20:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
It has already started are you kidding me. Open your eyes!

C'mon CowDung even you have to admit that many of the issues Bush is pushing for has the background for the religious right.
17 yrs ago - Wednesday 6/8/05 - 4:49:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
Assuming that is true, what does that have to do with separation of Church and State?
