The flame wars... It's rather annoying.

personal attacks that have nothing to do with the issues are really annoying to me.

Eh, right now the newbies have been driving me crazy.

Regardless of the length of membership time one has on site, the disrespect everyone has for anyone who's opinion differs from theirs is phenomenal...

I have always found it easy to ignore a thread if I don't like its contents. Neither of these things really bothers me very much. I have bigger fish to fry.

Newbie-bashing just for the sake of newbie-bashing is worse because there's no real reason for it (i.e. it's stupid to be mean to someone just because they're new). Newbies themselves are not inherently "bad"--only some are annoying. For some reason, I tend to ignore the flame wars between oldbies.

Both can be entertaining if the meanness factor is kept to a minimum. I object to bashing a newbie who doesn't deserve it, though.

I'm 100% with Ziggy on this one.

I haven't seen too much newbie bashing. Mostly flame wars between old members that go on for pages and often get way off track. These are the most annoying.

Neither...it's the lack of interesting content. So much of it is about semantics or prejudices, very little actual meat.

Same. I'm not a newbie, but I haven't even been here a year yet.. So I usually don't know what's going on with the 'oldbie' wars anyhow.

"oldbie" - what is this, Romper Room?

The concept of the "newbie" is that they lack experience on 'net forums in general, or don't understand the intracies of a particular forum, and require some kind of initiation to earn a place.

However, this forum is on no way that big a deal. There's no real dscussion format or style, and only standard netiquette applies. So anyone with any forum experience is fine here. There's nothing to earn regarding credibility.

So, newbie bashing is just pointless bullying here.

i think both are equal. when regulars become to comfortable with each other, they take the jokes to far, and it sarts a whole big thing. Newbies have no respect for what is being said or the friendships made in the room.

where did you get that picture with the special olympis from?

Eh, both are equally annoying to me.

Newbie-related crap I *hate*
But I also *HATE* flame wars.

They're worse in places you've been around longest. whyfor must they war? when there is good sport to be had in the newbies ;)?

17 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 4/18/05 - 6:19:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
AAAgh! I hate newbies and all their crap! Maybe when I become an old flame at the internet Ill have some wars and see how much crap that entails. As for me. I dont like the newbies;
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Thursday 6/23/05 - 9:14:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
I understand being a newbie. So I hate when someone honestly doesn't understand something and someone is ganging up on them. but flame wars irritate the crap out of me, because they have no real reason
16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Sunday 6/26/05 - 9:39:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
Noobs, at least the flame wars eventually shut-up, or get shut-up.
