How would it be Bush's fault?

I would say a lot more the Drug Companies faults than anything else. Or maybe they have an actual reason, like the vaccine wasn't working. But I don't see how it really could have a lot to do with Bush.

Neither. Unless you want to blame the the Brit drug co. on the possibility that they failed to observe proper protocol. I don't know how much I'd blame them, the method is pretty regulated. You might blame it on Clinton, but not Bush. Clinton is the one who instituted the govt buying large quantities of vaccines at fixed prices. So there is no motivation for the drug companies to gamble on making additional doses, as any quantity of unused doses kills the profit margin. And with the restricted profits, there is only one co. making flu vaccine in the US, and it's owned by the French. All the others dropped out. When Clinton signed the law, many pharmecuticals panicked, and you should too. The govt is nationalizing the industry. Did you know that the government can force Aventis to continue to make the vaccine, even if they don't want to? They can tell them how much to make and what they can charge, too. This is what happens when the govt. takes control of health care: shortages!

Really...why would you blame Bush? He has no control over the stupid drug companies over there in Europe anyway.

Ugh ... for some reason stories on questions have been deleted lately, so they end up making no sense. Kerry has been claiming it is Bush's fault that we are out of flu vaccines this year, I'll post the story section again and make a note in the mod forum about it. This is the third time this week this has happened just to me - anyone else notice it?

It's the Republicans' fault in general. The drug companies have too much control to begin with. Thank laissez-faire for that.

it is the fault of BOTH parties since BOTH parties are in bed with big business. our political system is a complete joke. until all of the "american idiots" wake up and get rid of this two party (in name only) stranglehold, NOTHING will change.

It's definately the drug companies fault, not Bush. I work in the prescription drug business. I know how greedy they are.

Drug companies are the second worst business group as far as greed goes. (First is insurance.) It's pretty obviously the drug companies' faults.

If Bush would import drugs from Canada there would be no problem. They're cheaper, and they're the exact same. He keeps saying it's a quality control thing, but that makes no sense. We're not about to be injecting eachother with sugar-water and calling it a flu shot, we just don't charge up the arse for our medicine (oh yeah, and we have enough for everyone).

There's a vaccine "shortage" every year. This is nothing new. The media makes this big deal out of it every single year, with headlines like "MILLIONS WILL DIE SLOW PAINFUL DEATHS DUE TO SHORTAGE OF FLU VACCINE" god.

It's Bush's fault. The drug companies can make as much as they want - i'm sure they haven't been told they HAVE to make a certain amount. And they shouldn't be told they HAVE to make a certain amount.

I don't think I've seen that one, what's your post? I don't bump questions, I'm updating the articles. Although the bump is a nice addition to that I guess!
