No. Blake Douglass should sue the school district. There is nothing wrong with that photo. The poor guy just wanted to dress for his senior picture in a traditional sportsman's pose. I hope he sues, because that was just wrong. There is nothing to suggest in that photo that he's going to commit a crime. Schools need to calm down these days.

That might give people ideas. A happy kid kneeling on a grassy field with.... a gun?!?!? I don't think so.

If the school actually have these gun sports as part of the curriculum, then I can't see a problem. Especially as he is in the sportsmans pose. I agree with what the school decided to do, and place the photo into the sports section. I guess i didn't think it was highly appropriate to put the photo in his class photo group.

No, but he should be arrested by the fashion police!

I can't believe the school has gun sports to begin with - those two words don't even go together. If they have those activities, I guess his dorky picture should be allowed, but if not, it's not cool to put a kid with a gun in the yearbook. When that kid goes crazy in 10 years and starts shooting people, they'll all feel bad!

Its ridiculous to generalise all kids with guns as psychopaths – you can’t block out the main aspect of someone’s life because other people screwed up. The photo is completely innocent: He should obviously be allowed it. Over in the UK that would be fine.

Smadders, the UK doesn't have the gun violence and school shootings like the US does. Here that is not cool. Putting aside my personal feelings that people who kill animals for 'sport' are insane anyway, it's just not cool to have a kid in the yearbook holding a gun. He probably grew up in a 'sporting' family and doesn't know any better though.

Nope. It's obviously a hunting rifle with a natural setting background. Plus it's being carried in an opened and safe position.

No. He's just posing with it. If he had the gun roostered, and was aiming at the cameraman, then there might be a problem.

Well I wasn't raised to kill, especially for fun, if that's what you mean. My sister and her boyfriend hunt though, so I don't think it has to do with how a person is raised. It's just someone's personal feelings. And my personal feeling is that I don't need to injure or kill any living thing for sport or a game. That's not fun to me.

Rule: No guns at school. Rule: Schools don't have to respect the same application of the Second Amendment that the rest of society might have to. The school is doing more than they have to in agreeing to publish the photo in a different section.

I think its dumb that they made a big deal over this. God forbid anyone in this country enjoy hunting...oh wait...everyone with a gun is just some crazy psycho whose gonna kill us all! lol, stupid. Poor guy. Can't even get an innocent picture put somewhere just because some people are, just weird. At least the school tried to compromise though, If it was me I'd give them hell though.

Students who enjoy hunting and responsible gun ownership are not allowed to bring guns to school. It is consistent with that policy to discourage promotion of, or imagery involving, guns.

He can pose with a gun if he wants! It's not like they took a picture of him with a .44 magnum pointed at someone's head...

^^^I understand that, but its just a picture. Its not hurting anyone. I just think some people make this issue way too big of a deal. But yeah I guess the school doesn't want to make it seem like they promote guns in case there is some nutcase around and mostly to make the people who don't like it to shut up probably.

The pdecision lies with the school, and the guy can whine about it all he wants; it won't change a thing.

if such sport is a part of his school than it should be in as it is. if it is a picture simply submitted than i think it's crass under light of all the school violence of late. it's a nice picture and I don't really see a problem with it but i think HE could suffer for it
