I'm thankful every day that I live in a country that has been barely affect by war and terror. As Australia is only a young country (just over 200 years old) and considering that we have been involved in most major conflicts since becoming a nation (WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam etc) and other conflicts not quite on a global scale, we are a very lucky country.

I don't think luck comes into it. Bombings and violence happen in other countries partly because we send people there to make it happen.

I used to feel lucky when I was young. Then it didn't register to me for a while in middle school. Later in high school I read more current events and found it shocking and apalling that such actions occurred so often. Now everytime I read about these attacks and bombings, I am angered and sad that innocent people die for a cause that someone else thinks will make their lives better.

No, because I think I've become desensitized to the news.

Sometimes I do, yes. Then I remember the neighborhood I live in, and retract my thoughts of gratefulness

violence is a part of all human life, sometimes its not as obvious as a terrorist attack, but its still there (note: i dont think that its a good thing, its just the way it is)

"olsengirl: pretty stupid answer. pyd: not as stupid, but close. in answer to the question, yes, i am very glad random bombings are a rare occourance." So America and England sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with violence? What about all the children and women that die because of a stupid mistake? Ofcourse you're gonna have suicide bombers etc although they really don't achieve anything by doing that. I consider myself lucky though that I don't have to live there.

Violence is not a part of MY everyday life, but I am most certainly aware that it's out there on a daily basis. As for my country, yes, of course I'm grateful and blessed not to live in a war torn travesty.

Well, yes, but I live in the UK. Even though The war might not be happening on US soil, you lot still manage to shoot dead over 10,000 fellow Americans a year. Hardly a peaceful society.

Of course I am thankful that there are no bombs falling where I live, and I feel awful watching the coverage on the news knowing that I can not stop any of it.
