I'm thankful every day that I live in a country that has been barely affect by war and terror. As Australia is only a young country (just over 200 years old) and considering that we have been involved in most major conflicts since becoming a nation (WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam etc) and other conflicts not quite on a global scale, we are a very lucky country.

I don't think luck comes into it. Bombings and violence happen in other countries partly because we send people there to make it happen.

I used to feel lucky when I was young. Then it didn't register to me for a while in middle school. Later in high school I read more current events and found it shocking and apalling that such actions occurred so often.
Now everytime I read about these attacks and bombings, I am angered and sad that innocent people die for a cause that someone else thinks will make their lives better.

In one way that's silly... violence is a part of daily life in every country... just not to those extents... and for that YES I amd most assuredly grateful I do not live in a place with bombings and such!
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 11/10/04 - 11:08:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
Presumptuous question.
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 11/30/04 - 2:00:16 PM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Saturday 3/19/05 - 2:39:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
I WAS BORN IN southamerica and I live in Israel, and is not like in the news you hear, but there are terrorist attacks, and every time I hear about one, i call all my friends and family to see if they are ok, and it hearts a lot, is very sad... i feel something inside me dies.

So America and England sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan have nothing to do with violence? What about all the children and women that die because of a stupid mistake?

Ofcourse you're gonna have suicide bombers etc although they really don't achieve anything by doing that.

I consider myself lucky though that I don't have to live there.

17 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 4/25/05 - 9:50:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
Violence is not a part of MY everyday life, but I am most certainly aware that it's out there on a daily basis.

As for my country, yes, of course I'm grateful and blessed not to live in a war torn travesty.

17 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 4/25/05 - 10:13:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
Well, yes, but I live in the UK. Even though The war might not be happening on US soil, you lot still manage to shoot dead over 10,000 fellow Americans a year. Hardly a peaceful society.
17 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Monday 4/25/05 - 10:20:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
Of course I am thankful that there are no bombs falling where I live, and I feel awful watching the coverage on the news knowing that I can not stop any of it.
