For me , I think it just happens over time . People get paranoid and / or sick of being away from eachother and pursue someone closer and actually available .

No, that's a horrible way to think of it.

Not in the sense that people get into long distance relationships purely because they know they can cheat. But it would make it easier if they decided to.

If your sick of being away from each other, break up, dont cheat!

I think some people just try to justfy cheating with something...its just wrong..if you don't want to be in a relationship, get out of it..

Two out of my three serious relationships have been long distance to some degree.. I never cheated on either of them, so the simple answer for me is no. One cheated on me, but I don't feel that the distance was a reason for that. We just grew in different directions and that happens whether you live in different states or in the same house.

I think long distances can work for some people and can't for others. Some people need constant physical closeness or costant reassurance, so a long distance relatiosnhip isn't their best bet.

It's a little weird, but I'm a little drawn to long distances relationship. I think it just stems from the fact that I need a lot of space and am very trustworthy and would only date someone whom I felt I could trust, so it's isn't too difficult to keep jealousy our of the equation.

You have to be in love for the relationship to work over distance. I personally don't have the conscience or the desire to cheat.

I met my boyfriend when he lived 140 miles away and now that we live together it's great. I had no reason for suspicion and neither did he, as we're both very loyal.

That's not true - my long distance relationship has been going great. And I definitely do not, and would not, ever cheat.

no way i am in a long distance relationship and i have never ever cheated nad i never would and i know my fiance has not either, we are very in love and he would not be able to live with himself if he did that the guilt would ge tot him because he knows i would never betry him like that. we have worked hard for our relationship and would never compromise it on another individual interrupting our relationship.

An EXCUSE to cheat? Who would do that? I mean, encourage a long-distance relationship just to cheat. It would be easy to cheat in such a situation, and some who don't set out to do so may end up doing it, but if you WANT to screw around, just break up! Why go OUT OF YOUR WAY to hurt someone? "...an excuse to cheat?"??? What does that even MEAN? That these people are intentionally hurtful? Am I misunderstanding something, or is the question just VERY poorly worded?

Yes, There is always an excuse.
