Do you think the reason America hasn`t gone to war with North Korea over the genocide and weapons of mass destruction there is because the American government thinks North Korea would win?

North Korea would probably wip Americas Ass because of there fanatic Mentality and the repressed Minds of the Korean People wich are ready to die for their Country-That doesnt means that the Americans dont want to die for their Country-but they are going to War with another Mentality than the Koreans

I think it has a lot more to do with thinking we can win another way. With Korea, there are plenty of other nearby folks that are far more willing to fight the fight, if it comes to that.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 10:17:09 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, probably because N. Korea already has several nukes (some estimate as many as 20) and since N. Korea has proved that they have delivery capability with their little demonstration by Kim Jerk Ill in 1998 of their Taepodong missile – and probably developed better missiles since then – US of A wont go in a war with N. Korea than can spawn a possible nuclear doom for Japan and S. Korea

We went to war with Iraq because we knew Iraq DIDN'T have WMD. Iraq is a "safe" war.

Korea can bite back. We're not nearly as inclined to attack someone with enough power to actually harem US here in our homeland.

17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 10:19:07 AM EST (GMT-5)
I think the nuclear warheads are a deterrent.

Wanderer, I'm doing my best not to present an argument against you personally. What SHRED of evidence do you have to back up that incredible statement. Every intelligence agency on the planet thought Iraq had WMDs.

To be sure, I don't think that this is wy Bush went in, WMDs were a side light to the reasons we are there. And Bush was pretty clear on that before hand. The media were the ones obssessing on WMDs.

You got that right - USA and Soviet Russia were for the entire duration of the Cold war in a state of M.A.D. - USA and Soviet Russia didn't attack each other only due to fear.

"... Every intelligence agency on the planet thought Iraq had WMDs. ..."

Yes, I bet the Niger documents where infinitely convincing and after Colin Powell presented US' "proof" for the UN.

USA wont go to war with korea, they don't have much in the way of oil, do they?
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/14/04 - 11:51:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
We won't go to Korea, because that just wouldn't be acceptable to the left.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 10/21/04 - 12:33:21 PM EST (GMT-5)
Going to war with Iraq wasn't acceptable to the "left", but we're at war with Iraq anyway.

"Going to war with Iraq wasn't acceptable to the "left", but we're at war with Iraq anyway. "

"We need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime. We all know the litany of his offenses. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation. He miscalculated an eight-year war with Iran. He miscalculated the invasion of Kuwait. He miscalculated America's response to that act of naked aggression. He miscalculated the result of setting oil rigs on fire. He miscalculated the impact of sending scuds into Israel and trying to assassinate an American President. He miscalculated his own military strength. He miscalculated the Arab world's response to his misconduct. And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction."

It sounds to me like at least one person on the left (Kerry) was in favor of

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Monday 11/1/04 - 10:58:29 PM EST (GMT-5)
And how was going to war with Iraq more acceptable to the "Left" than going to war with North Korea.

Whether or not you believe we should have invaded Iraq, it was NOT acceptable to the Left. But we're at war with Iraq anyway.

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 11/2/04 - 10:18:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
John Kerry isn't on the left? It certainly sounded like he supported the invasion of Iraq...
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 11/3/04 - 2:17:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
No, Kerry's not on the left. He's only left of Bush, who is so far to the right that he's practically falling off the edge. Compared to the political spectrum, Kerry is not on the left by any means.

I voted for Kerry, but it was an "Anybody But Bush" vote.

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 11/4/04 - 4:04:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
There are plenty of people to the right of GWB. Have you forgotten guys like Pat Buchannen, Newt Gingrich and David Duke? Kerry may not be as far to the left as Howard Dean, but is definitely a lefty...
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 11/4/04 - 4:31:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
Off hand, I'd say Buchannen, Gingrich, Duke, and Bush are all in the same crowd.

Kerry isn't anywhere near left. At MOST, he's middle.

17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Thursday 11/4/04 - 4:36:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
Then I guess you just have a skewed view of the world...
17 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Saturday 11/6/04 - 8:27:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
Too bad we have such a bad pres. that at this point maybe they would they sould have never felt the need to get these weapons, and maybe if we wouldn't have stopped our talks with them they wouldn't have gotten to this level!
17 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 12/18/04 - 10:11:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't see any problem with restraining from war because you know you're going to lose. To me, that sounds like a perfectly logical decision. As for Iraq...well theres no doubt that we were are going to win that one.

What are the chances of China coming to North Korea's aid should the West attack?
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Sunday 1/23/05 - 2:22:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd say high
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 2/4/05 - 9:24:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
You know, we only signed a truce-pact with North Korea when we left. Technically speaking, we are still actually at war with them; it’s just been a really long lull. That’ why there is still a demilitarized zone on the north/south Korean border.
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Friday 2/4/05 - 9:30:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
And, as to china, I highly doubt it. China is in the position to become a major economic player in the coming decades, and any major war would prevent the spread of globalization to the east, and an Asian dominated world economy, and a Chinese face on globalization, which I what most experts predict is going to happen in the next 15 years (see the NIC “2020” report); and China knows this.

Also, china knows that if a major war broke out, Europe would eventually side with the US, as the US provides the majority of the armed forces for the European continents defense (which Is how the EU can afford all its’ social programs). In fact, this is why China has been so “enthusiastic” about joining the US on talks to disarm North Korea, and have been major players in the multi-national talks seeking to end NK’s weapons programs (all of which have failed, however).

No, if any conflict breaks out between China and the US, Taiwan is likely to be the source of
