No, I think it is unrelated to that.

I don't give biblical literalists that much credit.

I think it's the lack of scientific evidence for global warming more than a biblical folk tale.

No, I agree with expbyte. I am not a global warning alarmist, and I didn't even know that passage existed in the Bible. It has been proven scientifically that the earth exists in cycles, and this is just a time between ice ages anyway. The end of the earth as we know it is inevitable, but I doubt it will happen in my lifetime, unless bin laden gets his hands on The Bomb.

I'm with exobyte and 1adam12. I don't really think one has to do with the other. We're screwed over either way...we're going to be living in "Water World" soon. Hopefully I'll have gills!

No, I don't think it's connected. The Noah story is a parable about cleansing the Earth of sin. Global Warming is not God's work, it's ours.

i don't think they pay that much attention to the part about god's covenant with noah - considering that every time there's a major natural disaster, you hear people claiming that god is punishing america for turning away from him.

lack of creedence=our unwillingness to accept that as a possibility, or our desire for that not to occur.

have you ever thought that the story of the bible is only a guide and it is not nessersarly correct. half the time it is just a teaching of what we understand and how the power of mother nature has a grip on us all. i believe that that particular line in the bible was just to scare people. maybe to keep everyone in line as the old testament was the jews and other major religions book of laws. Especially the pentatuch. The laws of the land.

"have you ever thought that the story of the bible is only a guide and it is not nessersarly correct." Please. That's the standard response ever since it became clear the Bible was obviously not accurate. I love it when people pick and choose what they like from it, and dismiss the rest, thinking that justifies its continued value somehow. Anyone rejecting scientific theories because of what the Bible says (evolution, global warming, whatever), are desperately afraid of reality.

xtramental, I don't see why people can't "pick and choose" when picking and choosing by Constantine's scribes is what put it together in the first place... I don't see how it would conflict with his promise to Noah, though, as it wouldn't really be God's doing.

"xtramental, I don't see why people can't "pick and choose" when picking and choosing by Constantine's scribes is what put it together in the first place..." By default, that means it's still under construction, by every reader, so it's not very reliable. And the rare parts of the bible about loving and respecting each other, are part of human nature anyway, that good people observe naturally. It's just that too many people try to credit the bible for it, just because it suggests the same thing (sometimes). To me, if it's the WORD OF GOD, it should be taken as completely correct. If not, it's just a book that sometimes states the obvious, that we don't really need. So, don't waste our time with Xian marketing.

No, I think you're the first one to think this. You win a shiny new ark.
