Do you think Olympic athletes should be able to set up blogs and web sites about the games if they want to?

I wonder if they're also banning spectators from setting up blogs and web pages? You know, because spectators shouldn't be journalists and to protect the rights of broadcast holders and accredited media outlets?

rediculous.

That's stupid--Olympic athletes should be able to write about whatever they wanted in their blogs and websites, just like everyone else.

It doesn't come as a shock to me. When I worked for the federal government I wasn't allowed to identify myself as a spokesperson for them, and that included writing letters to newspapers listing my position, starting websites pertaining to my work, etc.

I'm sure some of the motivations were different in my case, but most jobs have some level of ethical requirements. So what? It says right there that they can write all they want on their personal sites, but can't act as journalists.
