How is this a duplicate?

Three questions about it. It is actually a triplicate.

Here's the scoop. I asked "How old were you when you first realized you could beat up your father?" It was rejected as a duplicate. The question it was supposed to be a duplicate of was "Can you beat your father in arm wrestling?" Not even remotely the same question, so I would think any question about Ken Jennings would, in the mods eyes, be a duplicate.

But there are some mods who do that, say it's a repeat if it has the same words in it. Well one mod in particular. They will even call things a repeat even if it's not even close to the same (like my question about swing dancing was rejected because there was a question about tango dancing, stuff like that). Most of us aren't that retarded though

A question about Jeopardy fixing things to gain ratings: if that is the case, why on earth would they have waited so long into their run on TV to do this? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have done it when the game show fad was at its prime in 1999-2000 (when WWTBA Millionaire, and then Weakest Link and Greed were so popular) The answer is that Jeopardy doesn't need to do a promotion anything like that to garner ratings. It survived that fad, while Weakest Link and Greed fell by the wayside. This show, as well as the Wheel have persevered because they are good shows. Ken survived because he understood the game strategy and is, well, really REALLY smart.

You may be right, but remember they still had the 5-day rule back in 1999-2000 - they just got rid of it this year, which was why he got to go on for so many days. He'll still be on it when it comes back for the next season too...

If they were behind it, they wouldn't have made it last quite so long.

Jeopardy is doing just fine, they woudln't give away what will soon be 2 million dollars just for excitement.

If anything Ken has made the show even less entertaining to watch, you know he's always gonna win, Jesus himself would have to chalenge Ken.

I've been watching it the past couple weeks, just to check this guy out ... he is awesome, but it's not like he totally clobbers people. Sometimes he's not even in the lead but he always manages to pull it all out during every daily double and in final Jeopardy. Pretty impressive ... and people online are saying he goes to $2.6 million - if that's true, he's still got a few more months left on the show!

After the game show scandals in the 50's it would not be worth it for them to "set up" a streak like Ken Jennings'. Besides, Jeopardy is already the leading rated syndicated game show. Why do they need to improve?
