i can see the argument but i'm too far away to make an educated comment, I don't see much of the middle class drinking outside the US army bases around here but I know its not a good cross section of society.

Absolutely - Things like Outsourcing have caused many manufacturing jobs to go oversees. This has caused many job losses. So, those who own the business' are getting richer, while those who used to work at these companies are unemployed or had to take much lower pay jobs to survive. Yes we are losing the middle class - fast.

As long as the right wing governments keep getting voted in, the class divide is going to increase.

We're not losing the middle class, but I think the standards are different now from what they were. Sometimes it's like middle class doesn't cut it anymore. Then again, it's not like we ever mattered to the higher power.

I thought I heard it was increasing.
But I don't have an indepth knowledge of politics, so don't hold me to that.

The middle class is a pretty short-lived creation anyway. It basically sprung up from WWII vets coming home and taking advantage of financial aid the government justifiably extended to them.

Slightly, I suppose.

The middle class isn't dwindling away. People's standards have increased so much, that you feel like your in the lower class because you can't afford a 300k house with a cell phone, cable, computer, high speed internet, 2 cars, 4 TV's, big screen HDTV, and 3 nights out in the town. If we lived like people did in the 70's, the current middle class could possibly be high class.

This makes it sound like the opposite...

Chasm widens between rich and poor in U.S.
