No. There is a planet named Saturn, so why would I doubt the pictures?
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/9/04 - 10:58:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's the same thing as pics from the moon, the object itself is so bright that you need to tune the camera in a way to downplay light, that way, the object itself is visible, but stars and the like in the background disappear.

17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/9/04 - 10:59:59 AM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Friday 7/9/04 - 11:18:18 AM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 7/25/04 - 4:54:48 PM EST (GMT-5)
You could find out yourself. Get a good telescope, and compare what you see with the pictures.

17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/7/04 - 2:36:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
I thought those were cgi?
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Monday 8/23/04 - 11:43:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
The picture on the left just looks out of focus. The one on the right doesn't look normal but reminds me of those composite pictures taken from an array of telescopes which would probably means there would have been some modification/touch ups.

About asfake ake as those lingerie models in Victoria's Secrets. Both just got put through a lot of filtering to make things clearer to the readers.

I would get laid on saturn if I could. I bet those saturn chicks are hot. Kinky stuff that
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/13/04 - 7:48:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
You think that the chicks would be hotter on Saturn than on Uranus? Comeon man! Check out the names!
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Wednesday 10/13/04 - 12:11:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
Actually they probably WOULD be hotter on Saturn - closer to the sun
17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 1/5/05 - 12:08:53 PM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 1/16/05 - 9:15:01 PM EST (GMT-5)

The pictures, like almost every other picture of an astral body, have been cleaned and clarified so the public can more easily enjoy them.

Did you know that pictures of Mars usually have red added to them as the public expect a 'red planet'? The surface of Mars is actually more of a butterscotch colour.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 2/25/05 - 6:29:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
^ There was a rumor that NASA were changing the images to make Mars look more unhospitable. NASA said it was just the way the camera works.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 2/25/05 - 6:33:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
I hadn't heard that one, but it wouldn't surprise me. It would mean more funding when it comes time to go there. don't buy that 'just the way the camera works' bit though, that's total bullsh*t. The images we see are NEVER the raw images taken by probes/hubble.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 2/25/05 - 6:36:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
Here is a site explaining the camera thing

Though I have seen pictures of Mars' surface with the light orangy surface and a blue sky, so fark knows what's going on.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Friday 2/25/05 - 6:40:26 AM EST (GMT-5)
The colour of the Martian sky is dictated by the main component gas.

Nitrogen = blue
Carbon Dioxide = white

Mars has a very thin atmosphere mostly composed of CO2, so it should be a milky white.
