seems like it has. it also seems like everyone has forgotten what iraqs previous government did to its own people. i dont think that what has happened in the prisons even begins to compare with the attocities that occured when saddam hussein was in power. its aweful that this has happened and it does tarnish american credibility...but i think that iraq will be a better place in the long run now that hussein is out of power.

Yeah, it has caused other countries to not trust us.

no one cares about it.
18 yrs ago - Wednesday 9/1/04 - 6:04:04 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, but we never had much credibility in Iraq to begin with.

I don't even believe that there was a scandal. The media blew something small and stupid out of proportion as usual.

Big deal they were forced to do naked pile-ons. We all did that s**t in college. Big deal. These animals got off easy.

That, along with a whole bunch of other things we've pulled over there, and we only know a portion of what goes on there. If you have a chance to talk with someone who has served in Iraq, do. You'll be amazed at what they've seen. It's way bad!

the us never had any credibility in iraq, maybe if they ahd actually found the weapons of mass delusions...i mean distruction
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 11/8/04 - 11:23:12 AM EST (GMT-5)
No, I don't think the US had ANY credability in Iraq. As for WMD, yes he had them at one point, but not anymore. Then again, the mass graves they are finding were reason enough.

No, but I think that whole thing was ridiculous and embarassing for those who were involved.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 12/10/04 - 9:27:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
We've never had any real credibility as far as this war goes.

I think Lyndie England (I refuse to address her by her rank, or even to acknoweledge that she has any) and everyone else involved in this travesty should be hung from a f*#king yardarm. Anyone who's wearing the uniform, or has ever worn the uniform of a US servicemember should be outraged.

You know, I have a soldier in Iraq right now, all we hear about from the media is bad things, but what about last week when his company went to a villiage in Iraq and handed out food and toys to children. We never hear about the good things happening, like the schools that have opened, and how that for the first time ever young girls in Iraq are allowed to attend school and get an education. You people need to do research before you start trash talking the soldiers who are over there.

Get over yourself.

Credibility: Lest see this for what it really is, The majority of the world is engaged in an oil for fraud program overseen by the dysfunctional UN. In fact its directly overseen by the General Security's own son. The UN passes resolutions after resolution, but acting like a paper tiger, they fail to enforce any of them. Then corrupted member nations (Germany Russia & France, are fine examples) side step and out right block the US from acting on existing resolutions, so the US goes at it with the minimal amount of support by only the few member nations willing to bypass greed in order to help keep the region safer by enforcing the already existing and passed resolutions. And somehow in all of this we have lost credibility because of some misbehavior from a MP wannabe?

I agree with ANdybarron. This is something the liberal media has blown way out of proportion. I have seen the pictures, and they mean nothing to me. If it were US citizens captured, they would have been lined up and shot, or else had their heads lopped off.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 1/4/05 - 2:59:36 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think there are a variety of reasons why the U.S. may have lost any credibility in Iraq. The prison scandal was highly publicized, but it seems to have run its course.

I also think the news media is more opportunistic than liberal. When Clinton was in office, they were all over him about Whitewater, Foster, Paula Jones, and Monicagate.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 1/4/05 - 3:06:10 PM EST (GMT-5)

They were?

NOt about Monica gate, or Foster, for that matter. They covered up the Foster case like a cat covers sh*t in a sandbox. Hillary was the brains behind Whitewater. Bill wasn't shrewd enough to think that one up.

You really don't sound like Moderate, as your profile claims, brett_weir. I'm just saying...

I suppose it's in the eyes of the beholder then. Abu Graib deserved our attention, just like Clinton's character regarding Lewinsky. The people rushing to accuse the media of bias have been completely partisan, and opposite sides in each respective case.

17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 1/4/05 - 3:10:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, I think it is a pretty well known fact that the print media leans left, and the radio broadcast media leans waaaaay right. TV is a tough nut to crack. I think it is split, if anything.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 1/4/05 - 3:10:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
I am moderate, in that I don't go running behind one philosophy or the other. Every situation is unique.
