Anytime anyone relaxes a standard we all lose. giving into inmates who cannot say no even when they put themselves at risk teaches them the wrong lesson. Anyone who puts themselves not to mention others at risk should be denied health care not put on a poor baby list.

They should all have a tattoo on their foreheads that reads "I AM A CONVICTED FELON."

Yes, a lot of guys make their own tattoos in jail, it'd be so much better if they could have it done with the risk.

Yeah, it'll REALLY help lessen blood-borne diseases. You don't think that maybe some of those diseases are coming from the heroin they're shooting into themselves? I don't think we should give prisoners anything more than what they have, which is a place to sleep and eat and serve their time.

You can't put a tatoo parlor in jail - only the tattooists.

I don't think they need it if they are stupid enough to tattoo themselves and get a diease then let them have at it.

dramastace, I'm willing to bet a lot more prisoners get tattoos (or raped) than shoot heroin. Either way the lesson should be: don't go to prison, or you will probably get AIDS.

I can see how it would be a good idea. But prisons definantly have BETTER things to spend their money on.

Why not? They should charge them for it though-make them pay for it since the cost shouldn't rest on the taxpayers.

Maybe they should get the price at the right rate to not encourage them to collect dozens of tats out of sheer boredom.

Why not just take away their needles, ink, sharp implements etc so they can't do it. If, however they manage to tattoo themselves and get ill, its their own fault for being so god damn retarded. How about clothes shops on-site in case they prick their finger whilst sewing old clothes? Free prostitutes with free condoms in case they infect each other or become depressed? Thats what we go to work for anyway isn't it - making their life a bit more bearable. NOT Why panda to criminals? - they already have a higher standard of living than many innocent people.

No, if the inmates WANT tattoos, you shouldn't give it to them. They're in prison, ffs.

to answer the question, i dont know about the tattoo parlour idea. i think they shoul dbe forced to procure and assemble the products necessary for a prison tattoo gun, and present it before they're allowed to use sterile needles and ink. i mean, they're going to get them anyways, why not assure the prisoners dont get hepatitis?
