At least he actually went to Vietnam, unlike a certain 'president' (ha ha). Let's not forget that he's not a retard, unlike the other option.
18 yrs ago - Friday 5/14/04 - 4:41:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
He served his country and I can;t believe anyone questions that
They don't award Purple Hearts for nothing
They are for those who were injured in war

I think people who question that are scumbags

18 yrs ago - Friday 5/14/04 - 4:48:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, I never doubted it.
18 yrs ago - Friday 5/14/04 - 4:49:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
yes he did unlike the deserter, bush
18 yrs ago - Friday 5/14/04 - 5:49:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
If I were wounded, even minorly, and was rich and able to get my ass out of Vietnam early you better believe I would. I believe that he earned it, yes.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Tuesday 6/8/04 - 3:14:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
at least he went
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 7/27/04 - 7:27:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, I think so.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Tuesday 7/27/04 - 7:28:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
I never doubted

Of course he earned his Purple Hearts. He still has a piece of shrapnel in his leg! That's not really a minor wound.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 8/27/04 - 9:28:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, and he's worked damn hard for all that blue blood too.

RasinBran20, some proof of accusations of that magnitude are in order. He is, after all, currently serving in the military.

i'd like to quote something i read in the paper today.

"hi, my name is john kerry, and i served in vietnam. my comrades and i committed heinous crimes, i was so disgusted that i threw the medals out. but know i'm running for president, backing myself with my proud miltary career. why? nuance."

17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Friday 8/27/04 - 9:40:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
the man didn't earn sh*t.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 7:54:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
A purple heart is typically given to nearly anyone who is wounded in war, no one is arguing that he was not wounded. He earned it, period.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 8:24:01 AM EST (GMT-5)
Unlike the rest of you, I wasn't there, so I cannot possibly refute the decision to grant him a Purple Heart.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 8:27:41 AM EST (GMT-5)
Damn, UL.

I was just about to type the same message.

I am more concerned with what John Kerry's vision is for the future, not what happened in an unwinnable war that ended 30 years ago. As long as he wasn't a war criminal or a military deserter, I don't see much relevence.

17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 11:33:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
typically, hailey, you're right. but when you're wounded after giving the order to fire on women and children, you shouldn't get anything.
17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 12:15:26 PM EST (GMT-5)
^^

Another know-it-all teenager.

You weren't even a gleam in your old man's eye during Vietnam. Don't fall for the rhetoric. Talk to a Vietnam vet some day, before you go popping off like a Goddamned buffoon.

17 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 12:29:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
He also got the Bronze Star and the Silver Star

The Silver Star is one of the most difficult medals to be awarded
Gen Zumwalt who awarded those in Vietnam and who was in charge at the time was a hardass and would only give it to someone who deserved it

Kerry deserved his medals and those who say he didn't are the worst kind of liars

Kerry didn't fire on children you idiot
And if Bush went AWOL he belongs in jail and I don;t care who his Dad is

17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 12:57:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think Kerry earned his purple heart. No matter what anyone says. If I was over there I think I would have tried every possible way to get the heck out of there too. Like everyone else says, I don't hear about the pres. going over there and earning 3 purple hearts and supporting his coountry.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 3:45:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
Slappy the only person who has come out to speak against Kerry (who served directly above or below him) was his commanding office who, interesting enough, gave him favorable reviews after his awards and clearly has different political allignments and one former crewmate.. It's all very suspect to me, but as been said above I wasn't there so I can never really know for sure. Everyone just has to gather as much information as they can and make a decison I suppose.

The fact that all living memebers of his crew (except for the one mentioned above) were at the democratic national covention with him and have been on the trail with him speaks volumes. I may be a bit naive, but that doesn't seem like something that could be bought.

Ugh, Kerry is such an ass.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Saturday 8/28/04 - 5:40:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
you DO raise a good point, hailey.

"You weren't even a gleam in your old man's eye during Vietnam. Don't fall for the rhetoric. Talk to a Vietnam vet some day, before you go popping off like a Goddamned buffoon."

that's because my father was 11 years old when vietnam started.
i have spoken to vietnam vets, as well. i used to work in a retirement home.

but i hardly see the need for you to insult me, seems like you're the childish one here.

17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Sunday 8/29/04 - 2:32:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Bush is a bigger ass if he went AWOL and got into the Guard because of his Dad

I don;t care how he stands on anything if Bush really deserted
