It depends on how much you're drinking. Some people like to have a glass of wine or a beer with or after dinner, or while watching a game.

indicate? hmmm i suppose we are the ones to keep your eye on but I know plenty of people that do it and would never be called aloholics, myself included.

Not really. I've drunk alcohol once in my entre life, and I was on my own then. I guess I'm the poster child for the 'no' response here. Dependency on drink indicates alchololism. Not how you drink when you do.

I agree with 314159's last line. Dinking alone doesn't make a person alcoholic as long as it's treated like a beverage. It's when it becomes a necessity to drink just to function, or when your mind and body become dependant that one is alcoholic. Or when drinking becomes an obsession and you drink alone because you don't want others to see how much you drink or what kind of person you are when you drink that drinking alone becomes a problem. If you're just having a beer with the game or a stiff one after a hard day's work then I wouldn't worry about it. Most people can handle that.

alcoholism indicates alcoholism, not where you drink, or who you drink with

Drinking alcohol on your own indicates nothing, getting drunk alone can indicate towards yourself having a problem or perhaps heading towards serious depression. I normally associate alcholics with people who drink Dry Cider anyway.

Drinking alone doesn't indicate anything, however I do feel if you're getting drunk alone, you probably have a problem, whether it be acoholism or depression

It may be one of the indicators, but not all on it's own. Dependency on it and trying to hide it from others are two more.

Drinking alone means nothing, but I do agree that getting drunk alone is a little sad.

No, it is not an indicator of alcoholism. My mother was a single parent, and she liked to have a beer with her pizza on Saturdays. I was a young teen. Was she supposed to include me in her drinking of one beer a week?

Drinking alone is usually one of the first signs of alcoholism, yes - that doesn't mean having one drink alone, it means *drinking* alone - getting to the point where you feel something.

I've drank alone and I've been drunk alone. I've never considered myself alcoholic and I drink less often than most people my age now. It doesn't mean you're dependent on the drug. You have to look at more factors than that.

Sometimes, you just want a get a nice buzz after a hard day at work or something. I love coming home and getting a nice wine-buzz at the end of a busy day. I see nothing wrong with that.

if you drink alone a lot and you talk like fleaps234 you have a problem. but if you drink here and there by yourself i don't think it's a problem. you should be more worried about the people who wake up in the morning and start drinking. that's scary..'

Would it be better to go to a bar and drink and then drive home? Just so you can say I didn't drink alone? The question is why are you drinking and how much are you drinking.
