I thought it looked cool until I read the features they thought women needed to drive a car properly!

'The doors open wide enough to get in and out easily. And the headrests can accommodate ponytails. Electronic sensors help with parallel parking, something some men could also use. There are dent resistant rubberized bumpers - in case the parking doesn't go so well. You can also change the upholstery to fit the season -- or your mood'

Do you think these new concept cars made by and for females are patronizing to women drivers?

I dont know b'cause on one side of the story the car would be usefule to us females but on the other hand its like "Just because we're females doesnt make us f*ckin idiots ok?" so im for skipping the question.

I think the sales literature can make it seem rather patronising for females. But when you're actually driving it I doubt either gender would notice most of the minute details.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 4/17/04 - 2:18:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
nah, they're just practical. Either way, it says they more than likely won't even be produced.

I could use one of those.

Well, not the ponytail accomodation, but the bumpers would be nice.

I dont see why its just for women, I never really understood that stereo-type. Some men drivers suck too. But anyway, its practical, its a good idea, I just dont see it happening.
18 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 7/18/04 - 10:24:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't see those examples as just for women.

lol

I'll take the ponytail accomidation and forget the bumpers.

Who knows...the "female" car could become the norm for both genders. Like the recent "metrosexual" trend.

Very sexist and patronizing, how shameful.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 8/11/04 - 10:36:10 AM EST (GMT-5)
Well I like the idea of having a headrest to accomodate ponytails.
18 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Wednesday 8/11/04 - 11:00:00 AM EST (GMT-5)
Where is the Midol dispenser? Or the disposable napkin dispenser/receptacle? You know that you would use them if they were available.

If the shoe fits so to speak.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 4:23:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Lame. Just lame.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 4:29:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
I think either gender would appreciate the new features. I don't see why exactly it's amrketed towards women exclusively.

*marketed
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 5:31:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
What the cars aren't pink!?

Yes, they're partrionizing.

17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 9/27/04 - 5:46:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah, they're patronizing.
17 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Monday 10/18/04 - 9:21:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Not really. Women that I've known as a whole (including myself) tend to park worse than the men I've known. The car seems practical.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Wednesday 11/24/04 - 12:01:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
I love the idea of a ponytail fitting headrest. I work around food so my hair is in a ponytail 96% of the time and cars, buses, movie theaters, I alwyas have to sit with my head forward so it doesn't hurt.

Otherwise, I don't really care. They're concept cars...not real cars. If it was called the BroadMobile it'd be patronizing, but just showing off cool features? Nah, that's just cool to see what they can do

17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Saturday 1/29/05 - 7:05:50 PM EST (GMT-5)
LMAO. That's priceless. I don't think it's patronizing. It's too practical to be patronizing.
17 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 2/10/05 - 1:43:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
I personally can't parallel park very well, but I don't think it's because I'm a woman. I think it's funny that they specified that only "some men" would need the features while implying that all women need them.
What about the men that have ponytails?

Here's one for old people...

Cars now made with older drivers in mind

That's why they don't stop at making cars especially for women.
