Now that I think about it, it probably wouldn't be a good idea. There's gonna be those out there who think they haven't sinned and will feel like thayt have the right to criticeze everyone. We have plenty of people like that already.

^But then it just derives into 'Don't throw stones at people' That is, perhaps, a better philosophy...

It's a good idea to remember that no one is perfect--including yourself.

Sure. I'm not particularly thrilled by throwing stones at people or having them thrown at me.

Though I do sort of like skipping stones. Would that be OK?

It's akin to saying "the pot callling the kettle black" and so on. It's a nice ideal but as it's been said, there are so many people out there who just know exactly what everyone else should be doing and they're gonna tell us no matter what.

Some people will always think that they need to define morals for others. That's just the way it is.

Well, it's a good saying, but lots of people misinterpret it. It's not saying you shouldnt point out where people have gone wrong...that's what a lot of ppl. think. It means dont be harsh or condemning.

I don't really know if that's a good thing or a bad thing to live by. Sometimes, people who believe things like this think too big of themselves but for the people who don't "think big" I suppose it's not too bad of a moto to live by.

Just because a person smokes doesn't mean that they can't encourage other smokers to quit. so no, its a horrid system to live by,

um...I don't think that is really what its talking about. In the bible, the pharisees bring a woman who has sinned to be stoned to death. They claim that, because of the old law, they must stone her and that Jesus must agree with them or he does not follow the teaching of God. So Jesus doesn't want to kill the women, so he tells the pharisees that the one who hasn't sinned should throw the first stone. Of course, everyone has sinned, including the pharisees. Eventually all of the pharisees leave and the women is let off. Basically Jesus is saying that God should do the judging, not us. He is actually saying the opposite of what would you would think.

how weird, I heard that phrase and story for the first time yesterday and asked what it meant. I think its a good thing to consider in some situations. I know I'm guilty of being too harsh on people in the past.

this reminds me of the joke where, just after jesus says that, he sees a huge rock fly towards the womens head. he turns around and say 'mum, you can be such a bitch sometimes!'

Would you want someone who smokes all the time telling you to stop? Didn't think so.
