17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 3/28/04 - 6:38:03 AM EST (GMT-5)
There ARE some words where the hyphen is optional, so I guess that's what he/she meant.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 3/28/04 - 6:54:09 PM EST (GMT-5)
I try to whenever it is needed.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Sunday 3/28/04 - 7:26:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
umm yeah on words that are supposed to be hyphenated
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/29/04 - 5:53:05 AM EST (GMT-5)
What I mean is, wods like today (to-day is the supposed "proper" spelling), reform (re-form), etc.

Optional hyphenation, in other words.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/29/04 - 5:59:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
I don't, in that case.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/29/04 - 6:16:28 AM EST (GMT-5)
Evil - according to whom? In any case, I don't hyphenate those - though I do use them a bit too much in my posts.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Monday 3/29/04 - 9:03:49 AM EST (GMT-5)
Uh, I don't think those words are supposed to be hyphenated.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Tuesday 3/30/04 - 7:27:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
does "slash"ing my words count as hyphenating them?
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/31/04 - 7:49:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
Only words that are commonly hyphenated.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/31/04 - 7:55:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
I hyphenate my words when I write essays but other then that... sometimes.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/31/04 - 8:09:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
um the ones that need to be i do
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/31/04 - 8:14:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
I hyphenate some, to look old-fashioned. Sometimes. Like, "to-day," "to-morrow," and sometimes I connect nouns to their adjectives because that's entertaining. Like... the dead-mouse.
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Wednesday 3/31/04 - 8:17:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
i don't think the wording on this question is clear
17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 4/1/04 - 4:17:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
i always get confused when people write 'coworkers.' It looks like it should be pronounced 'cow' workers.

A definite need for a hyphen if ever there was one.

17 yrs ago, 2 mos ago - Thursday 4/1/04 - 6:08:51 AM EST (GMT-5)
yeah, well I've had some coworkers that could be described as cow oinkers.
16 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Wednesday 7/14/04 - 11:43:11 AM EST (GMT-5)
....Uh, yeah...If they're SUPPOSED to be hyphenated....
16 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Thursday 7/22/04 - 2:36:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
When they should be hyphenated. I hate it when people hyphenate words that shouldn't be hyphenated.
16 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 10/12/04 - 4:15:28 AM EST (GMT-5)
When they are supposed to be hyphenated. This is kind of an odd question really.
16 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Tuesday 11/2/04 - 11:24:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
I didn't think that today and tomorrow were supposed to be hyphenated either, lol. Anyway, I will use hyphens in words such as co-workers, co-operation, etc. But other than that, no.
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 11/24/04 - 8:09:57 AM EST (GMT-5)
i dont know....
16 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Wednesday 11/24/04 - 8:20:57 AM EST (GMT-5)
Just because a word has two or more com-pos-ite parts to it does not mean it has the option of being hyphenated.

One hyphenation I have trouble with: When referring to age, is it "three-year old" or "three year-old"? I fluctuate back and forth on this one. At various times, either one seems right to me.

16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 12/30/04 - 10:46:34 PM EST (GMT-5)
nope, seems like an extra usless step, why do it.
16 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 12/30/04 - 10:47:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
i allways go 3 yr. old, but hey, thas me
