Overall, I'd say not really. The Buddha isn't represented as intrinsically supernatural; Jesus is. However, both were intended as exemplars.

In the sense that they lay the philosopy's that both buddhist and christianity follow, but, Buddha is just a man not the son of God, we buddhist dont believe in an all powerful God

Jesus is believed to be the son of God, where Buddha is often believed to be (they also view Jesus in the same light) a manifestion (or humanly form) of Vishnu (a god in the Hindu religion). Jesus came and looked at the Jewish relgion and current state and said it needed to be changed. Buddha did the same thing.

No, because unless I've been misinformed, the Buddha is not the messiah.

Well no, buddhist's dont consider Buddha "the messiah" but a lot of them do consider him to be a reincarnation of a God, which is what Jesus is and why a lot of Christians consider Jesus "the messiah."

The Buddha has nothing to do with Hinduism. That's a different religion entirely. Buddhism originally was a philosophy rather than a religion. Christianity was a religion from the start. Buddhism is currently a philosophy for some people and a religion for others. Both Buddha and Jesus are considered an incarnation of the godhead by their followers. Both were born of a mortal woman. Buddha was engendered by a human man, Jesus by the godhead. Buddha achieved enlightenment, Jesus was (presumably) born enlightened. Both were concerned about human suffering and sought to aliviate that suffering, although in different manners. Jesus died to save humanity from sin and help humanity get into heaven. Buddha lived to teach humanity how to overcome suffering and achieve (get into) Nirvana. Many similarities, not exactly the same.
