Report it to the authorities while driving away from ground zero.

I agree with khaki, that way your getting out before the mad rush to get out without feeling guilty for not sharing your information.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 4:33:55 PM EST (GMT-5)
The freeways would get so crowded around here, you might never get out.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 4:38:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
run for the fu*king hills, call the authorities in jersey somewhere.

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 4:39:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
well, this is assuming it was an actual 100% true, believable threat. because here in NYC we get lots of 'em.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 5:07:08 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hmm. This would be one heck of a moral debate. Once you alert the authorities, you might get completely stuck in traffic.

Call the authorities then leave IMMEDIATELY.

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 5:14:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
Call them from a mobile *while* driving away. Chances are you'd get arrested if you stay very long anyway.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 1/6/04 - 5:18:15 PM EST (GMT-5)
Call them on my way out of course. Also I'd call my friends and loved ones while at it.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 7:56:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd call friends and loved ones first to try and give everyone I care about a head start to get away.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 8:04:07 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would invite a few friends over, hang some brats & dogs out on the clothes line and have an end of the world party...
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 9:31:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
If your city was going to be nuked, no matter where you drove, I'm sure you would be killed anyway.

Do you actually understand what it means to be nuked?

Anyway...so I'd just sit around and have a fun time with friends...before we all died.

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 9:36:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd go to sleep.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 9:50:30 PM EST (GMT-5)
"If your city was going to be nuked, no matter where you drove, I'm sure you would be killed anyway."

It all depends on how long you have before the bomb drops. Do you actually understand that the nuke has a finite radius of damage?

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 10:42:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
If you nuked anywhere in the US you'd kill most of it's population. That is a known fact.

I highly doubt you would be able to get away fast enough...

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 10:50:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
They nuked Hiroshima--was most of Japan's population killed?

Even a modern nuclear blast will only destroy things in maybe 100 mile radius.

18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 10:50:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
Remember, it also depends on how powerful the nuke is. If terrorists have control of it, then it's likely less than 15 kilotons, particularily if they made it themselves
in which case, a bomb like that, ground busrt, in the middle of Chicago, would only do about a mile radius of damge. Airburst, the gamm radiation would harm probably less people, seeing as the buildings will absorb a lot of it, and damage *might* go out to about 2 miles. Now then, out of 50 or more square mile urban centres, that's a small portion of the city. (Yes, the Hiroshima bomb(15 kilotions) wiped out over 12 square miles of the city, i believe, but one, that's flat land, tow, it's high airburst, three, buildings weren't solid concrete like modern skycrapers. Essentially, a terrorist nuke won't be all the much more devastating, pending on the yield)
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Wednesday 1/7/04 - 10:52:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
Personally, well, it's their problem, not mine, although you can be sure that I'd do a quick spot of looting, then find a safe shelter. Shouldn't take much, and if I know where it'll be and what the yield is, then I can *easily* find the right hiding spot to be shieled from the blast.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Thursday 1/8/04 - 8:07:14 AM EST (GMT-5)
I've heard one modern nuclear weapon's radius of destruction is about 15 miles. Most cars these days will take you more than 15 miles away. Of course you must also take into account the radiation fallout, so don't travel in the path of the prevailing winds. Example: If you're in Los Angeles, travel North towards San Francisco or South towards San Diego. Traveling East towards Las Vegas might get you some radiation poisoning. The Best avenue of escape would be West towards Catalina Island, if you're lucky enough to get on a boat or plane.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Friday 1/16/04 - 4:49:13 AM EST (GMT-5)
Dracino's bang on, in fact I'd probably phone him first, and ask him where he put it. A terrorist bomb, would probably only be at or just above the critical mass, due to the problem of acquiring nuclear material.
Escape depends on how much warning you've got. I think a groud based explosive would be most likely, and if it's incoming in a missile payload, or as an arial drop you're pretty much stuffed anyway. You'd need a car, most likely, to get far enough out.

I'd call some of my friends, then the authorities. I don't drive, so I'd need a lift anyway.

18 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Thursday 3/4/04 - 10:43:27 PM EST (GMT-5)
Report it, then get outta town
18 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Thursday 3/4/04 - 10:45:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd have to report it, just in case it could save anyone. I'm not so sure I'd get out of town. Oh, I probably would!
18 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Sunday 3/7/04 - 9:05:25 AM EST (GMT-5)
The authorities would probably think I was a lunatic, so I'd get out of town if I thought the threat was real, then I'd attempt to report it.
18 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Sunday 3/7/04 - 9:07:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
Get out of town....then report it.
18 yrs ago - Tuesday 6/1/04 - 9:46:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
Wow. I'd run for my life; and do what shakira7 said.
18 yrs ago - Tuesday 6/1/04 - 10:38:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
khaki got it right
