Easter eggs would make good gifts, and shouldn't cost anything extra. Just save them from Easter.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 4:59:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
Thats mest up. They are being punished and they get the thrill of Christmas. I don't understand United States.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 5:05:20 PM EST (GMT-5)
Get me something, sorry. My fingers can't keep up my mind, sometimes.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 5:08:08 PM EST (GMT-5)

I was implying most definitely not to the question, Kiki.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 5:35:01 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh I see now guilty and hailey

Wise if you want to pay to give millions and millions of felons apples, oranges and $5, go right ahead. But I shouldn't be expected to pay for it. Where's my fruit basket and $5 for being a good citizen?

18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 5:50:12 PM EST (GMT-5)
I just don't see the big deal. I mean, if you're talking DVD players, that would be one thinig. But fruit and a cash bonus that couldn't even buy a single pack of the cigarettes I smoke isn't really upsetting to me.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 6:38:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
What happens if the inmates aren't Christian? Do they get a waste of taxpayer's money anyway? What happened to the seperation of church and state? Christmas presents? that's what family is for...why the hell are criminals getting Christmas presents from the State...and why don't I get one? Are they more deserving than every other citizen?
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 7:45:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
Honestly, I'm not all that upset either. I'm sure the inmates would much rather see their families, I'm not sure what the state has against that.

wannabe the part about christians made no sense whatsoever, as all parts of the goverment celebrate christmas in some form and don't connect it to religion.

18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 9:15:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
Big deal. Some people commit horrible crimes, but it doesn't mean they are no longer human beings.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/22/03 - 9:18:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
I do agree DoMo
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 12/23/03 - 6:33:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
It doesn't mean they aren't human beings, but it DOES mean they lost their rights as a human and they shouldn't get presents paid for by law-abiding citizens. When you are in prison, you no longer have any rights except laws that make sure they are fed adequately and have clothes, etc.

Like I said, for you people that want your taxes raised so those losers can have fruit on Christmas, go right ahead. Make that your volunteer job or something. But the rest of us shouldn't be FORCED to pay for it when many Americans can't even afford to buy Christmas presents for the people they love, much less strangers. Do you know how pissed you'd be if you couldn't buy your kid a Christmas present, but you knew scumbags rotting in prison were getting cigarette money and fruit baskets?? Or if you were standing in line at the soup kitchen on Christmas hoping for some fresh fruit but getting turkey soup in a plastic bowl instead? Where's the fairness there?

18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 12/23/03 - 6:51:20 AM EST (GMT-5)
"Where's my fruit basket and $5 for being a good citizen?"

That's the perfect way of saying it. These bums commit crimes, make society an un-safe place and they get all of this special treatment because it's a holiday? F*ck that. Prison isn't supposed to be nice. It's prison!

18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 12/23/03 - 5:07:31 PM EST (GMT-5)
We shouldn't be forced to pay taxes for a war that the president lied to get us into either. In fact, I don't like my taxes paying for corporate giveaways which make only investors and executives rich so they can turn around and lay off thousands.

There are many far worse uses of taxes to get angry about than giving someone who is imprisoned some fruit and a few bucks. Compared to other tax uses, that barely merits comment.

^Amen.
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 1/9/04 - 2:30:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
First of all, they are still human. What is wrong with some fruit and a few bucks. What if you were in their place and it was you who were getting the basket. You sure would be for it then. A lot of these inmates, dont have anyone to have a visit. The only thing I get pissed about Is all the other luxuries that cost way more than a apple or orange. Some of the prisons are just like a richly hotel. If you want to get pissed, get pissed about that. I say, bring back the old chain-gang.

^^

I wouldn't be in their place.

I obey the law.

I have an idea for a nice gift for them. Some land. Kick them in the nuts and give 'em two achers.

#16!
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/10/04 - 3:00:51 AM EST (GMT-5)
It's bad enough I pay for their cable t.v and workout facilities (the ones that make them bigger and stronger skells and makes it that much easier when they're trying to kill me) so I would have to say no special treatment or holidays for them. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 1/10/04 - 3:30:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
At taxpayer's expense? OMG, is this a trick question?
18 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 1/14/04 - 11:16:26 AM EST (GMT-5)
not at the taxpayers expense no
