my guess either moisture evaporating on the skin..causing you to feel cold ...or it's just something partic. to you...can't say that I've never actually had that happen

The front of you will feel colder, as you back is getting blasted by the heat from the fire. The difference in temp between you front and back, will give a you shiver, which will get the blood flowing a little bit quicker, spreading the heat. Sounds good, but probably aint true
