HAHA! On the question forum, it says "Should this teacher have been suspended for her accidental use of the word 'I am an idiot'?"

She should have been more carefull, being in a position of authority and all, but nothing should happen to her. I remember my dad said the exact same thing when I was really young and I shouted at him for it, but he's not racist.

I don't know if she should have been suspended, but she really needs to watch what she says.

So silly. It isn't like she was calling a student that. I wonder too if it were a black student who said that would they get suspended? Probably not.

No. I would suspend her if she refused to apologize or was malicious about using the term, but she apologized and explained why she made the mistake.

Maybe a suspension will be okay, but I highly doubt she is a racist. That term is used very loosely these days, and I wish it wasn't.

That's pretty crappy for her to get suspended for something petty like that {since it was an accident} but, hey the kids got a sub for a while....sounds good to me

no. public education is stupid, and while i am grateful for having gotten an education, i am more than happy to have graduated from it, just so i don't have to deal with crap like this.

I think a suspension is harsh, since she appears apologetic and her students don't think she is really a racist, but it's ultimately a pretty small price to pay for a mistake that is pretty offensive.

I don't think she should be fired, but I hope she learned a lesson herself. As a teacher she should definitely be more aware of what she says.

You've heard that word in the rhyme before because that's how the rhyme goes - the slip of the tongue came because she forgot to say tiger instead of n*gger.

Huh, I never knew that. I always heard it tiger. I wonder, does affirm the fact that I'm not a racist, or just mean I'm ignorant?

It's tiger in these days, but she's our parent's age. Back then it was 'n*gger'. She also came from another country, they may not EVER use tiger there.

This teacher is not racist, why should she be fired. She accidently slipped up, everyone does eventually. My grandmother in fact taught me the original version of the rhyme, fortunately i was taught better than to use the term but did accidently slip up once. Its hard not to once something is pounded into you like that.

everything these days is politically incorrect. you can't say anything without being yelled at cause it offends somebody. that's bullpoo. everyone should just get over themselves and cut the poo.
