No...Last Thangsgiving though, I was on my way to work and I encountered a homeless man on the corner asking for money. So, since it was Thanksgiving, and I'm generally a nice person, I rolled down my window and gave him $5. He then tried to open the back door of my car and I'm assuming, get in. Thank God my doors were locked. I sped out of there and haven't given money to the homeless since.

I used to not to, but now I do.
I suppose I am getting soft in my old age.
I give money to women holding kids, but not to men.

No, i feel guilty not doing it but i also think its unfair to use a child like that.
18 yrs ago - Wednesday 10/22/03 - 2:12:27 AM EST (GMT-5)
No it encourages them to use children fo begging.

When that child is five or six it will still be begging.

Kept out of school to earn a pittance so it's parents can live of it.

By nine or ten it will be pickpocketing or commiting burgalry.

Not any more I don't. A few years ago when I was working for the Salvation Army, I got to know a woman that did just that. After collecting quite a few dollars she went and got into almost new car and drove off. They eventually arrested her for child abuse and child endangerment. Apparently she had a very nice house and her husband had a job. They were thinking of also charging her with fraud. Never did find out why she did it. Mabey she was missing a few french fries.

In Nepal it is common for kids to beg for milk.

They beg tourists to please buy me one milk and get them into the supermarket before claining a gaint sized can of powdered milk that costs about $15.00. Not quite the litre of cow juice the tourist had in mind.

If the tourist is too taken aback to refuse, the powedered milk is quickly returned for a small handling fee and the cash passed on to the controllers of the children.

17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 2:14:24 PM EST (GMT-5)

I would just eat the baby so the hobo had one less thing to worry about.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 2:21:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
What's the term for a female hobo, anyway? A hoba?
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 2:23:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
Hobo is hobo, it's a title, like writer, gender neutral.
17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 2:27:05 PM EST (GMT-5)

17 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Friday 2/6/04 - 2:28:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
