I'm not currently a member of anything. Sort of scary, huh? I'm worried about getting sick or hurt or something.
18 yrs ago, 6 mos ago - Tuesday 11/4/03 - 10:14:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
I went without insurance for years - I even had a 5-day hospital stay with no insurance. It's not as big of a deal as people think, I just went to the county hospital which really wasn't too bad. Emergency rooms HAVE to treat you even if you don't have insurance, so not having it won't kill you or anything.

Well, I know they HAVE to treat you. But somehow I don't find that comforting. If it was something huge I'd be in debt to them for years. :-\ Its sort of nerve-racking in a sense.

Nah you can file medical bankrupcy, get rid of your medical bills and it doesn't even affect your credit.

Yeah and it sucks it is called TRICARE. Basically you have to be seen by incompentant medical school rejects and then get sent home with Motrin. If you complain loud and long enough they will send you out for a consultation with a real doctor.
18 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Tuesday 12/16/03 - 11:21:07 AM EST (GMT-5)
No but I still get all my medical and pills for free. I just go to the VA hospital.

Yes, because I couldn't afford the better PPO insurance offered on my piddling salary. I haven't had any really horrible experiences with it...Just the routine frustration of needing referrals for freakin' everything, which once resulted in my having to make 3 trips to the emergency room for something my own doctor would have been better equipped to handle. But the HMO paid for it all, so no worries.

No health insurance of any kind.

But then I live in a country that cares for it's sick.
