I like to think that I wouldn't because I love him and just because someone seems better doesn't mean they are. Trading him in might be the biggest mistake ever.

People aren't cars, to be "traded in" when they've lost their usefulness and soemthing "niftier" pops up (and the grass is rarely greener on the other side--it just looks that way from whatever side of the fence you happen to be standing on). If one looks at relationships in terms of personal amusement and at their partners as toys to use and entertain them, then perhaps this "trading in" philosophy might work (though I'd question the fulfilment of a life like that); however, for anyone who considers relationships and commitments to be about more than personal amusement, entertainment, and graitification and considers the people in their lives to be more than just toys or things to be used, the whole "trading in" thing doesn't quite work.

Also, commitments and promises don't mean anything if you throw them aside the moment they're inconvenient to you--you would have done the same thing promise or no promise, so the promise made no difference, right? It was pointless and had no value. Promises and commitments are responsibilities, not things that can be discarded at a moment's notice whenever they get in the way.

people have emotions. If you would trade your partner for someone better, that means your not happy now, and should let them go. Dont waste their time or your own.

i dunno, i might miss my right hand. it's so useful for writing stuff, and guitar picking, among other things. if i could still do those things, sure i'd take someone better.

There may be someone physically more attractive but that wouldn't make him better. The more past we share the better it gets. I'd never trade him in!

No way. Even if there was someone 'better' out there, I love Derek and we have a history. Why would I give that up? I love him so much more than that.

I don't think I could find someone better. Just different maybe, and different is sometimes appealing. Still, I don't think I'd ever be anymore than just tempted to do a trade in. I'd never actually do it, I don't think.
