How bout a comporomise, S&M anybody?

Making love - It's not like they're not going to do it oneday themselves, and it is a natural part of life. Strange the way it gets censored from movies but they leave the gruesome killings in

I'd rather let them see the violence

I'd rather let my child see two people making love. Like blackcrow said, it's natural - and it's not distressing or negative like violence.

Besides, most children find two adults making love "yucky", so they may not find it all that interesting anyway.

Much better to see two people making love than the mind-numbing violence that is everywhere.
19 yrs ago - Saturday 9/27/03 - 6:27:32 AM EST (GMT-5)
i would also say making love. its a natural thing, and they would one day do it. and as for violence on tv, i think its perfectly fine if your mature enough to handle it. but little kids aren't.
19 yrs ago - Saturday 9/27/03 - 6:31:50 AM EST (GMT-5)
They see some form of murder at least 5 times a week anyway. Murder isn't nearly as prohibited on public tv as sexual acts are. True. Making love is natural but they're not mature enough to really understand it. More likely, kids are going to make fun of it just because their thinking isn't "there" yet. They seem to take violence more maturely.

Violence, but this is a ridiculous question. If ever you had some control over a hypothetical situation, and should not compromise, it is with regard to your children.

I say violence because in my family, the exposure to either will be accidental, and violence is naturally offensive. It is through habitual viewing that someone becomes desensitized to it, so limited exposure to it would serve to reinforce the idea that it is bad. Sex is a tricky, more tempting subject, and even limited exposure could foster an unhealthy curiosity. Learning about sex on tv would be unhealthy, imo, and very well might conflict with how I choose to teach my child(ren) about it.

Well, this is interesting...
Probably violence, because sex is something I think should be more private... I'm not against cinema for adult viewing at all, but if I have to choose what they get to see, I'll take violence just because it's easier to find these days. they're both easy, but violence is a little bit easier.
Did you like my redundant use of the word "easy"?
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 10/18/03 - 3:25:46 PM EST (GMT-5)
If i had to choose it would be sex.Get them used to something natural and fun.But in my true opinion i say let it all loose.Show it all.Sex and Violence and everything else.We all grow up sometime and the strong survive.Get them used to the real world quick.Screw this candy coated bullpoo.

That's a hard question...i guess two people killing eachother..but it depends on the movie. I don't think young kids should be subjected to either of those..but yeah.. i'd chose violence

like the bot moderation of cuss words on here.
18 yrs ago, 11 mos ago - Saturday 10/18/03 - 3:28:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
I'd like to see the killing of two people making love.
18 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 12/14/03 - 7:25:06 AM EST (GMT-5)
my parents let me see both when i was a kid
18 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 12/14/03 - 11:44:24 AM EST (GMT-5)
My parents let me see whatever, and if I couldn't handle it, I would run out of the theater or room. I never could handle innocent people dying. If it was my children, I'd let them see the sex and use it as an opportunity to teach about it.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Saturday 11/20/04 - 10:36:23 PM EST (GMT-5)
If the love scene was decent and not hard-core and crude... I would rather have them see that.

Blackcrow summed it up nicely.

You guys have got to stop getting your questions from old George Carlin routines.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 11/22/04 - 1:48:28 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'd far rather my children witnessed lovemaking than killing.
17 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Monday 11/22/04 - 1:53:35 AM EST (GMT-5)
Lovemaking. Though if I get a chance I'm changing the channel anyway. The ratings system is a nice thing to have as a parent.

I'd rather them accidentaly see two people caring for one another than destroying each other.

Two people killing infidels. In fact, I made my children watch videos of Westerners being beheaded, the turned into wonder soldiers of Allah. My eldest son was a suicide bomber.

Yet we still can't allow curse words on TV...

Sex on TV: It's increasingly uncut — and unavoidable
12 yrs ago, 7 mos ago - Thursday 1/28/10 - 6:17:37 PM EST (GMT-5)
Of course sex-television sex is not very graphic and a child would probably find it boring anyway. But seeing someone get shot or stabbed could really affect a kid.
