Haha, just ran across this and it reminded me of this post :) Top 11 reasons to boycott French products even as we triple our oil imports from Iraq. 11. Prospects of "French kissing" diminish if you can't pick up your date in your folks' new SUV. 10. Sending a subtle, reassuring, diplomatic signal that we won't attack France (because the they don't have anything we really want). 9. New Jersey Congressman James Saxton's resolution to ban US participation in the Paris Air Show guarantees that struggling US airlines will find lots of bargains in collapsing US aerospace industry. 8. Fortunate loophole: not all French fries are imported! 7. Xenophobia: Statue of Liberty turned out to be a Trojan horse. 6. Oil can be refined without being arrogant.

5. If we don't buy oil from Iraq, how can Iraq buy weapons from us? 4. House Speaker Dennis Hastert has pretty much given up on small government, free trade and deregulation having acquired a taste for bright orange warning labels and a state of perpetual fear. 3. French timber imports contribute to deforestation and political oppression in Liberia, but the environmental consequences of extracting oil from the Iraqi desert have been minimized through new technologies employed after the Gulf War (Thanks Dick Cheney and Halliburton!). 2. Buying Poland Springs water instead of Perrier supports the "New Europe." 1. We're not importing Iraqi oil, we're offering it political asylum.

Idea - people are boycotting French and German products because merchants in those two countries are boycotting ours.

I never though much about the EU to begin with.

The American attitude was summed up pretty well by Bill Clinton this week when he said - "Our paradigm now seems to be: something terrible happened to us on September 11, and that gives us the right to interpret all future events in a way that everyone else in the world must agree with. And if they don't, they can go straight to hell."

Clinton is full of poo.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 4/17/03 - 10:47:02 AM EST (GMT-5)
I think he summed it up perfectly. He speaks with a lot more intelligence than George Bush. But then again, who doesn't?
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 4/17/03 - 10:50:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
He is really not that more intelligent than Dubya. Dubya's greatest advantage is that idiots want to think him as a fellow one.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 4/17/03 - 10:53:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
Is idiocy really a good quality in a political leader?
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 4/17/03 - 10:57:26 AM EST (GMT-5)
Dubya has a Harvard MBA degree and has flown fighters; idiots don't do those things.
19 yrs ago, 1 mos ago - Thursday 4/17/03 - 10:58:10 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yeah they do, they just do them badly.

I was never anti-european to start with. Clinton is full of crap. He always was and I have no doubt that he always will be. Why *anyone* would take advice from someone who lied under oath is beyond me. However, I do think he's more intelligent than President Bush.

Not personally, but I think the answer as an overall statement for the US would be "DUH!!!"
19 yrs ago - Thursday 4/24/03 - 2:06:44 AM EST (GMT-5)
Just that there is justifing each other for bashing reasons IS childish.

I don't know Europeans any better than they know me. I don't have a problem with them at all. I do know Americans though, and I think a majority of us are being idiots. I love it when people bring up how we "saved frances ass in WWII, but somehow forget that they saved ours in the Revolution. I still feel indebted to the french. Even if its true that they're being retarded over there, I won't join in the mix. I have nothing against you Europeans, please don't hold any grudges toward me.
18 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Sunday 8/10/03 - 8:28:05 PM EST (GMT-5)
I still like Europe and Europeans.
