I thought I read somewhere that the Bush family is the quintessential wealthy East Coast family. The Texas thing just came later--it gives him this blue collar feel, which from what I understand isn't true in the least.
I don't know for sure, though, and I sure as hell am not going to look it up.

Just because he has a slight twang to his accent, I can see why he could be thought of as a cowboy. Hey. There's no president that I heard with the regular newscaster (Mid-Western suburbian) accent.
