A lot of the more blue blood families do this, supposedly to create a good solid blood line. I just watched a story about the duPont family marrying only within the family.
I don't personally have a problem with it, I wouldn't do it. And I think it'd be a little weird to tell people you met because your parents are related. :P

I had a roomate in college from this tiny town of 300 people, and she was engaged to her first cousin because he was the only guy her age in town, LOL ... After she came to college though we found her some new men :P

If there is no genetic risk for offspring, there is no rationale for it being illegal. However, I cringe at the notion of dating one of my cousins!

Terrones: I'm not saying I'm for it, but did you even read the story? The point was that they've discovered that children born from first cousin relationships are in no more danger of defects than children born from other types of relationships.

Absolutley it should be legal--it should be legal throughout the US. It is in most of the rest of the world. All research shows that states that prohibit first cousin marriages have no difference in the amount of birth defects amongst children compared to those that allow it. Besides, first cousin marriages account for something like 1 out of every 1000 marriages in this country. Its not a big enough issue to warrant having a law even if it did cause damage.
