By ROGER ALFORD, Associated Press

VANCLEVE, Ky. - A small Appalachian Bible college is fighting to change its telephone number because the 666 prefix is disturbing to Christians who recognize it as the biblical mark of the beast. `People say, `You`re a Bible college and you have 666 in your phone number?`` said Carlene Light, an office worker at Kentucky Mountain Bible College.

19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 2:33:43 PM EST (GMT-5)
Apparently pretty hard if they've been trying for almost a year!
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 2:42:10 PM EST (GMT-5)
i think it's their area code. so they can't really change it.

I know that Waco Texas has a 666 exchange--I wonder if Baylor (another Christian college) has the same problem)

If its the area code tough luck... Just move to another area code.

wolf boy, I cannot believe you don't know where Tennessee is located.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:37:00 PM EST (GMT-5)
*Shrug* I know it's in the US, but without a map, I'm not a hundred percent sure of where it is in terms of closeness to virginia. Especially since I'm not a native resident of Virginia. I never memorized the exact location of every state relative to each other.

Freyja: Bt the way, considering this topic came up in a PM, don't you think that would have been a better place to discuss this rather than randomly showing up in a random forum and stating your shock that I didn't memorize the location of every single place in the US.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:40:45 PM EST (GMT-5)
Haha, that's quite funny.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:44:33 PM EST (GMT-5)
Oh, please, there are far more important matters of the United States to be aware of than the exact location of every state. I at least know my states. Most people can't point out every state on the map, don't even attempt to make me out as some kind of retard because I don't know. There are far more important things to memorize than that.

No, I didn't feel like sending you another PM. I think you should know your 50 states and where they are located. It's a 4th grade concept. I was turned off that you didn't know, to be honest. Here. Go educate yourself. Map of the United States
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:47:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
frick you!!!! What the frick do I care if you were turned off? You grab any random 100 people in the US and I willing to bet more than 90 % of them can't rattle off all the states and their locations!
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:48:40 PM EST (GMT-5)
Yes, I deleted because I had a typo, and as far as I'm aware, there is no edit option on this forum. As for it not being important where the states are located, I beg to differ. I'm not saying it's the most important thing in the world, because it's far from it, but don't you think it would be nice to be familiar with the country in which you live? I could name ever state, every capital, and point it out on a map as well by the age of 5.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:49:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
What's your point? I'm not going to argue with you over who in the United States knows their 50 states or not. I just think everyone should be a bit educated on the area.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:53:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
That's good for you, you're one of very very few people like that, congradulations. If you judge somebody by whether they care about the minute details of their country, I don't give a sh|t about your opinions of me. I know plenty of IMPORTANT things, knowing the states makes absolutely no difference in my life, other than allowing you to form opinions about me, from something really dumb. I'm very familiar with my country, thank you very much, however like I don't memorize every streetname in my naboorhood I don't memorize every fricking state either. There are far more important things than that. If I need to know where a state is I can look it up on a map. I think I'll memorize things I can't just look up any ole time I wish, thank you very much.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:54:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
Good for you Freyja - but your map puts Alaska down in the middle of Mexico and Hawaii is farther away than that.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 3:56:38 PM EST (GMT-5)
Does it? I didn't even pay that much attention to it. That's the first one I ran across, so I grabbed it real fast-like. Oh, and wolf boy: Bwahahahaha. You will never cease to amaze me.
19 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Wednesday 2/12/03 - 7:02:08 PM EST (GMT-5)

Haha, this is funny. Reminds me of the time I saw this guy with a humongous SUV driving around with 5,000 Anti-Abortion, Kerry is Evil, Vote Bush, Anyone Who's Not A Christian is a Heathen stickers. I looked down, and his license plate number was 666
