I don't see why it's a bad thing, except it may be a for of bribery for the doctors to use a particular companies drugs.

Of COURSE it's bribery - that's why it's so shocking and so wrong. Did you not read the article? The doctors are given hundreds of dollars to allow it, and it's common knowledge doctors are also given money and gifts for prescribing the medications that drug reps tell them to. Drug reps aren't doctors, nurses or even medical professionals. They are salesmen, no better than a cheesy used car salesmen. There is NO reason for them to be in an examining room during a patient's visit. I can't believe it's even legal to be honest.

Yeah, I figured it was bribery, but I don't think it is in ALL cases.

I think that they should do their internships before they start working for a specific drug company.

I think that as long as the doctor does not feel pressured to prescribe the rep's companys' drugs, and if the patient is agreeable then there isn't really a problem. As the American medical service is private then they should be allowed to make their money however.
