Jeans go with everything, therefore a little contrast is appropriate. I wear jeans almost every day, but I have a couple denim shirts that I will not wear with jeans. I have to go with khakis to wear them. Jackets are different, though, because they usually have a utilitarian purpose rather than being part of the fashion ensemble.
