STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A golden eagle made a meal of a dachshund hunting dog in Sweden after experts warned the cold spell sweeping northern Europe was forcing hungry birds of prey closer to towns and cities.

The dog was taking part in a rabbit hunt in Halland, southwestern Sweden, when it became the prey. Owner Valdemar Nilsson will replace the animal at the government's expense -- under Swedish law, the government compensates losses of cattle and dogs caused by bears, wolves, wolverines, lynx and eagles. Insults already? I'm disappointed. And clearly you have no idea what you meant by the sweden thing, or the point was so obscure as to be all but meaningless.

Tsk tsk.

Dear lord, really? Okay, pay attention and I will disseminate the joke for you.

Kiki asked "Was this hunter's dog killed and eaten by an eagle from karma?". Now, she is clearly referring to religious idea of karma, a concept prevalent in Eastern religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism. The law of karma is essentially "for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful".

Now, you see, what I did was take the idea of karma being a country, thus implying that the eagle was a citizen of a country called Karma. If you read the story, you would see that the incident took place in Sweden and so all beings concerned must acually have been resident in Sweden at the time. Therefore, using all of the above knowledge, I made a joke - no, the eagle isn't from karma, it's from Sweden!

Are you clear now, or should I send y

Yes. I certainly have better things to do than to type out explanations for obvious jokes
17 yrs ago, 3 mos ago - Thursday 2/17/05 - 11:06:08 AM EST (GMT-5)
Obvious? Joke?!? Oh dear. Proof, if any were needed, that vegetarians have no sense of humour.
