Y'know, one'd think that I'm all player like and way into drunken chicks in a party mood doing stuff they regret the next day...

One'd be right.

this looks like bullpoo nerds masterbate to, so quit hacking on that person who said it looks stupid. it has great special effects. ok wow. a lot of movies do.

Good luck naming one with special effects as creatively and technically well done as this.

They both seem really cool

I do like plenty of movies, thank you, Electric.
I'm just not a 20something guy that this movie is obviously directed at.
I maintain that it looks stupid.
What is its draw? Blue people? Special effects (because those are SO rare nowadays)? Its budget?
Pffft.
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 12/20/09 - 8:38:25 PM EST (GMT-5)
I saw this last night.

The storyline was very predictable and textbook. But the 3D effects and colours and computer animation was mind blowing.
I was entranced for the full (nearly) 3 hours.

If you're going to see it, you have to see in on the big screen in 3D and just disregard the crappy story etc.
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 12/20/09 - 9:17:17 PM EST (GMT-5)
seeing it on Saturday!
I'm well aware that this movie won't be changing my religion or anything. that's okay.

You are a female. Any "insulting" idea that is meant to win our wallet can win YOUR wallet with far less effort.
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Sunday 12/20/09 - 11:17:28 PM EST (GMT-5)
what I mean is, studies proving, if you are female, you are far more willing and interested in giving old white men money than we will ever be.

Go see the next Notebook. It will be far less valuable than avatar, but your age group/sex will be far more willing to s*ck a money dick than this one.

I saw it and actually enjoyed it. The plot was better than I expected, though I felt it was a little too preachy and hippie and very direct. Subtlety is not this movie's strength, nor its intention.

+Michelle Rodriguez is hot.

I actually hate Romance films, mrbungle, but thanks for stereotyping me.

Sci fi is always based solely on our logic? Waaaah? While we're at it...that planet had lemurs! And dogs that were a tad different! FAKE!

Blade Runner constructed a world that is both 1980s tech with futuristic robots?! WHAT A JOKE!

I've been reading science fiction for more than 20 years. I think I can spot second rate crap. 'Blade Runner' isn't, 'Avatar' is.

And thanks for stereotyping 20-30 year old males
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/21/09 - 1:59:11 PM EST (GMT-5)
Pfft. So you deny that this film was marketed MOSTLY to your sex and age bracket?
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/21/09 - 2:03:06 PM EST (GMT-5)
So why make such a big deal about it looking stupid? It's not marketed to you, you're not meant to like it.
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Monday 12/21/09 - 2:42:59 PM EST (GMT-5)
I didn't; everyone else was all ZOMG YOU DON"t LIKE IT?!
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Wednesday 12/23/09 - 2:26:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
One word: Spectacular.

I went to see it with 5 other people and we reached the consensus that we felt like we had seen some sort of breakthrough.

My friend said "doesn't Ironman look stupid now?".

no one cares if you don't like it, but you knew full well that comming in here like a 2 year old whinning, "this is soooo stupid!" would get you a negative result. grow up a little.

Nightgoddess lives to be contrary or something. Meh.

If we had a movie forum like the others, I'd love to start a thread about "why sci fi needs to be spectacular"

the only one i've seen that isn't is Stalker. I didn't enjoy it, but I admire the work.

This said, I'll skip this one. Cameron annoys me.

omfg this was f'in amazingi give it 9.25 out of 10.
12 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Friday 12/25/09 - 8:30:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
I enjoyed it, although it's definitely a popcorn flick. I was certainly glad that they at least did lip-service to some sort of (physical) basis for all the hippie shamanism, even if it was hokey.

The end was kind of predictable and unrealistic at the same time. I wanted the less optimistic end, damnit.

LOL, that's what my cousin said about the ending.

I haven't seen it, nor will I until it comes out on DVD. From what I've gathered from talking to different people, it seems to be the kind of movie that those who are impressed with special effects enjoy, but if you want more of a plot, it's not for you.
