There are people already in line in front of theaters for this, I guarantee it.

You know, I didn't like watching Star Trek. But with the cast of this movie, I'm actually pretty excited. I plan on seeing it. Maybe not at midnight, but definitely that weekend.

Im sorry, but Karl Urban is too much of a bad ass to be playing Bones.
13 yrs ago, 10 mos ago - Thursday 11/20/08 - 8:37:18 PM EST (GMT-5)
Karl Urban? Didn't he play Eomer in Lord of the Rings? And he was in Xena and Hercules as Julius Caesar... and he's gonna be Bones? Hahahaha.

Winona Ryder? Really?

As much as I enjoy Star Trek, I think this movie has "epic fail" written all over it.

*predicts the next "Thunderbirds" incident*

I'm excited for this movie. Not obsessing like twilight or harry potter fans, but I will definitely be seeing it when it comes out.

I was a trekkie growing up, in fact it's one of the few things my dad and I used to do together.
That being said, I am filled with mixed emotions.
I have a feeling this will be awful, as most of the Trek movies have been, but an origin story is kind of a neat idea.

Judging (albeit to the limited extent that can be done) from the trailer, I can imagine a lot of trekkies being disappointed. Looks more like comic book action film, kinda an X-men in space deal .

Well, without super powers anyway.

I just know this will be horrible...

oh, well. At least the guy that plays Spock looks pretty cool.

From what I've read, it's made by a guy who always preferred Star Wars, and he wanted to make this movie in a way that would bring in people who didn't originally like Star Trek.

There's no avoiding the fact that this film will be "different".

That said, Abrams is trying to be as close to the true Star Trek as possible, whilst still trying to appeal to people who would never before have considered seeing a Star Trek movie.

I don't have too much faith in JJ Abrams, but judging from the trailer, it does look pretty cool. I'm most def. going to watch it.

Though still, theres a point at which you're just using the name to whore a completely different style of film. I mean, like with the recent transformers film, I didn't think it was great, but I don't think it bastardised the source material.

This on the other hand... (again though, based on the limited trailer, I'll reserve judgment till I've seen it all. And hell, I'm not much of a fan anyway, so bastardise away)

I'm excited, but a bit nervous that it will fail. The previews look good, but very different from the typical Star Trek movie. So we'll see!!

I used to watch Star Trek when I was little. I might consider watching this. I dont know if it could compare.

In my opinion, he puts too much emphasis on the love story rather than the actual plot, you know? I think Cloverfield is an example of that.

I think the man has great general idea, but uses too many formulas/clich├ęs when it comes to development and dialogues.
