I saw a preview for this, and it looks like it's going to be as awful as the short story. I bet it'll be the usual
"happy Hollywood ending," too, instead of the book's ending.
Either way... definitely not worth it, I'm sure.

I don't really know if that required a spoiler, but, just in case, I didn't want to feel the wrath of YT.

It's a great short story, and the cast is interesting, I'm looking forward to it.

I really liked this movie. Despite largely taking place in one setting, the film never got repetitive or stale. The plot unfolded at a steady place and there was plenty of time to identify with the main characters. The lead was handsome and talented and Marcia Gay Harden played a great villainess. The main characters have to deal with mysterious creatures, but as the movie marches forward, they must also contend with the hysteria and paranoia of the crowd, which becomes every bit as threatening as the mist.

I truly loved the ending, which I won't spoil, but just know that it's original and impressive. To be honest, the film struck me in its trailer as Sci-fi channel quality, but it really is skillfully done. I'd have edited a few of the more obvious social commentary scenes, but otherwise a great job to all involved. What a great surprise.

I hated this film at the beginning.
The camera work was shaky, the writing sucked.
But then it picked up.
It got really terrifying and made me glad that I had gone to see it.
I agree about the ending; the poor boy! I couldn't have done that. But what could they do?

I agree about Marcia Gay Harden playing a great villainess in that movie.
What was funny though was that almost half of the theater that I watched it in started clapping after the second one hit her

Same here! When the first bullet got her some guy went "ha!" then clapped after she died.

I waited for my audience to clap, but no one did. I wonder if people were quiet because they didn't hate her that much or just because it was a scary moment in general. TBH, I sort of wished she had been less crazy at the end so that the audience could have related to her a little bit. The creatures did resemble locusts and she was arguably protected from the one that touched her. It might have been more interesting if the movie left the possibility of her being a kind of prophet. At the very least, she didn't have to become a child-sacrificing, raging psycho-bitch at the end. Oh well, it was fun to hate her.

When he said that they only had four bullets and the lady replied "But there is five of us." I leaned over to Zell and said "I am glad she is a teacher! She can count!" I could not help but laugh after he had shot the four. Just the look he gave the gun after he had it in his mouth was great!

They could have just rolled over someone's head with the tire of their car too. The kid was pretty annoying, let's start with him.

I really love this movie, but the ending was errmm... interesting. <.<

The book ending was absolutely nothing like the movie ending, so I guess everybody hates good endings.

How does the book end?

Maybe they all survived? Maybe before he offed everyone the army drove up? I dunno.

They all live, unlike the movie, which is ironic because it's usually the other way around.

I thought the story left it open-ended... didn't it leave with some of them driving off and wondering when they'd get out of the mist? It's been a while since I read it, and I didn't like it, so I could be wrong.

But they never died within the story, so it's still different than the movie.

I thought it was a great, tense movie.

I usually don't like so much CGI, like Dreamcatcher, for example.
but this movie made it work, even if it was a little fake at times.

and I'm glad to see a major movie with such a non-typical ending, even tho it was a bummer.

14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 12/4/07 - 3:42:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
I liked the HUGE one with the lumbering legs. That seriously won me over. Mosquitoes were good. Some of the spiders seemed fake to me, as did the tentacles.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 12/4/07 - 3:54:52 AM EST (GMT-5)
the tentacles were totally fake and the gore was cheesey, but it worked for
a scene where a kid dies.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 12/4/07 - 8:20:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
Oh that was good, when it started ripping at his shirt and pulling him under. But the part where one of the tenties liquidates was totally Star Trek TNG circa 1989.
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Tuesday 12/4/07 - 7:22:51 PM EST (GMT-5)
I want to see this movie but my mom says I cant. Thats annoying. :(
14 yrs ago, 9 mos ago - Saturday 12/8/07 - 3:48:21 AM EST (GMT-5)
I was expecting this movie to be scary and really good.
So I was disapointed, and the ending really ruined it for me
Not one I will ever watch again thats for sure
