Oh my god. I read the book, and it was AMAZING. So, I want to see this movie. Really, really bad

I can't wait for this one. I loved the book and when I saw the preview it looked like it was really well done.

The movie was really great. Followed the book very closely. It had to leave a few things out due to time constraints and whatnot, but overall, it was a very good film adaptation of the book.

Are you joking? They left out such KEY parts. I thought this movie was awful. They changed soo much that I left the theater upset.

The only important question: How's the rape scene?

Isn't it just implied? As in they don't show it.

It's only rated PG-13, and it involves kids.

I thought it was R.

AMAZING book. So well written and gripping. I hesitate to see it in theaters though, movies often never live up to the books ...

I tried reading the book and I found it was wel written, but I had no feelings towards the MC. As soon as he got to America I couldn't read it any more
I might rent the movie when it comes out, though.

Wow - I think you're the only person I've heard say anything remotely negative about the book. Interesting perspective. I read it so long ago though I don't recall when he moves to America...

I LOVED the book and I loved the movie too. It was really well done. The parts that were cut out weren't really important and I think it really maintained the feeling of the book.

i read the book twice in a row and loved it (seriously, it blows your mind the second time)

I'm actually reading the book now .
14 yrs ago, 5 mos ago - Saturday 5/3/08 - 2:11:46 AM EST (GMT-5)
I'm watching the movie right now. My only complaint is that it's mostly subtitles and reading a movie is no fun.

But wow, seeing the things from the book acted out are horrible. Wow.

That whole part made me seriously sick to my stomach. The showed basically everything but him actually putting it in.
Ugh.
14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/6/08 - 10:42:13 PM EST (GMT-5)
I just finished this book and am thinking about renting this movie over the weekend. Sounds like it's worth renting....
14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Saturday 5/17/08 - 6:58:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well I finally saw it, and I thought it stayed pretty true to the book. The actors were all wonderful. Especially the little boys. Sure, they had to change/cut a few things at the end but it didn't really affect it too much. Really touching movie and story.
14 yrs ago, 4 mos ago - Tuesday 5/27/08 - 11:41:40 AM EST (GMT-5)
My roommate brought this movie home over the weekend and I immediately asked her about the book... she said she couldn't read the book because her sister had a cleft palate and reading about it was distressing... but in the movie Hassan didn't have a cleft palate.

Anyway, so I watched the movie and it was great. I was very emotional throughout, but the most emotion came from when
Amir's father called him to tell him that the General had accepted the proposal that Amir marry the General's daughter
. I literally clapped and cheered.
13 yrs ago, 8 mos ago - Tuesday 1/20/09 - 2:26:32 PM EST (GMT-5)
Haven't read the book, and I had postponed seeing the film until last week- but it's an amazing movie, really opened my eyes. Very emotional, I cried several times.

Same here.
Extremely disturbing.
Especially as you see the blood drip out of his pants as he walks away.

I was pretty upset about it for a good few days.
