Just graphically alone this will be worth it.

And the idea that this is hopefully how it will be. Well, one can *hope* anyway.

I really really want to see this--don't kill me but I'm a Will Smith fan--he usually picks good flicks to be a part of.

Yeah, because "Wild Wild West," "The Legend of Bagger Vance," Bad Boys II," and "I, Robot" were such awesome films.

I'll agree with Aburame and add that a good book rarely ever translates to a good movie. The only exception I can think of off-hand is "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Apparently the book is supposed to be really good.

I am holding out to see the movie first because I know that if I read the book first I will be very disappointed.

Better to approach it with as little expectation as possible (especially since it's going to be a bigger budget film)

I would go see this, but I already own it.

I remember seeing "The Last Man On Earth" with Vincent Price. I liked, that movie, I assume I'll like this one as well.

And oh yes, the book is also very good. The film will be more about man vs. monster, from the look of it. But The novel makes it so you really take a step back and really think about who the monster actually is.

Actually, a large portion of the greatest movies ever made are book adaptations, in fact people give a bum rap to movies made from books because Hollywood wants to exploit ever best seller out there, but remember that Hitchcock was a master of book adaptations, and Kubrick never wrote an "original" script either.

This movie goes way too far though, there is no point in even giving it the same title as the book, and the association is useless at this point.

How do you know it goes too far though, if you've not seen it? (Not being sarcastic, really wondering.)

Judging from the previews it's incredibly obvious that the deviation from the original book makes it pointless to give the same title. Neville wasn't a scientist, he wasn't black, his dog didn't live, the vampires didn't look like vampires but more like dead versions of living people, the book wasn't even really an action story, his wife and kids died differently and no bridge ever got blown up by a plane.

This movie is clearly the same as what I,Robot did to the book material, they take the very core basic idea and blow it up into a typical action flick.
