Wow! Can't believe nobody has commented on this great film!
Poitier and Curtis play escaped convicts who are shackled together and must overcome their hostility and racial prejudice in order to work together. Considering the time this film was made, it's a pretty gutsy exploration of racial tensions, and the film has aged very well.
The brilliant Poitier has never been better, and this is Curtis' finest role. It's a definite must-see for the cinephile.
