I didn't like my job. I have been here for a year. I decided TODAY would be the day to get out of here as I will never be able to move anywhere within this crappola company. So I wrote my Two Week notice and sent it off to my used to be pretty ok boss. To which he took the crappy, defensive and childish upper management route.

Here is what I said:

Jim,
I wanted to inform you of my decision to leave
Tiffany and Co. I am giving you my two week
Notice today.
I have enjoyed working here, but I feel that with
All I have invested in my education that I am not
Giving myself the opportunity I deserve.
And There is no where for me to move within the
Job I am doing.

Thank you very much for your help
And concern while I was an employee here
And I hope the switch and the holiday
Season go smoothly for you and the
Repairs department.

what a loser!
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:53:33 AM EST (GMT-5)
Here is what he said:

He was like

I expected this to come long
Before this
And I looked into letting you go
Today but the merchandise
Demand is too big so I need
You to keep your head in the game
For the next two weeks.

Laughin out loud.

Thanks for trailing me along as
Slave labor, giving me the idea
That my position might go
Permanent.

A hole.

him...not you, of course
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:54:28 AM EST (GMT-5)
and the ridiculous scare tactic of "letting me go today"
I wish he had, cause it took all my power to smile while singing the ahole song in my head and not walk right out the front door on the way back to my desk.

Yea, Is that childish or what?

Not Gee keri, sorry I sucked up a year of your life making you do useless monkey work in the hopes of going permanent and getting benefits like I promised you.
or even good luck finding something else. Thanks for busting your ass for us and never complaining about a goddamned thing.

F this place.
I hate their jewelry. Worthless overpriced crap that breaks and looks like poo most the time.

Thanks Ed! Much love.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:58:05 AM EST (GMT-5)
you should leave AS SOON as you find another job, even if the two weeks isn't up. He sucks.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:58:24 AM EST (GMT-5)
I liked the keeping my head in the game bit.

YES SIR COACH SIR, I WILL GET OUT THERE AND DO THAT.

ha ha ha. Or maybe I will piss in your coffee.

18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:58:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
yea, but I will still need the REFERENCE.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 7:59:15 AM EST (GMT-5)
let it all out Keri dont hold back any
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:00:56 AM EST (GMT-5)
LOL. Thanks baden. But like I told you, whatever slight nervousness I had about doing it, has completely vanished. This place 'stinks on ice' like my mom would say.
And they don't deserve my a$$.
So whoo hoo. Leaves me open to find something else and hopefully have it be something I like to do. Leaving my girls here will be the only sucky part. They are all pretty cool.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:02:48 AM EST (GMT-5)
Usually when you want to use an employer as a reference, you lie and say the experience was great and it's time to move on. Period.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:04:22 AM EST (GMT-5)
sera,

just a note. You kinda gave too much info on your resignation letter. just an fyi.

18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:05:19 AM EST (GMT-5)
I did tell him that. ^ as presented earlier. My notice was professional and to the point. He is the one that turned into a squabbling child. My reference can be nothing but good as I worked hard here and everyone knows it.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:07:17 AM EST (GMT-5)
I found it to be slightly needling, but that's just me.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:08:57 AM EST (GMT-5)
That is your opinion. Not one I agree with but if you had been dragged along for a year being promised benefits and a decent paycheck and then realizing it was never going to happen... I coulda put a lot more needles in it.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:11:45 AM EST (GMT-5)
Most major companies cannot give out a reference anymore. About all they can say is taht yes you worked there from such and such dates.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:12:33 AM EST (GMT-5)
I've been dragged around here for five years (glass ceiling), and just got a four percent pay cut to boot. But when I get a new job (I'm in the market), I'll tell everyone how wonderful it has been to preserve the contacts I've made and then leave them to their misery.
18 yrs ago - Monday 9/15/03 - 8:15:54 AM EST (GMT-5)
Yea, I told everyone here it was wonderful. I don't have to tell yt'rs it was wonderful when it wasn't.
