Its nice to dust it off.

I majored in recreation and leisure/ therapeutic reaction. Basically program and activity creating, facilitating, adapting, etc yada.

Husband is having a day of activities in his class, to simulate doing tasks with impairments. THIS IS RIGHT UP MY ALLEY. So I made him 7 stations of 12 activities. We got the last materials needed yesterday.

Today I am finishing up writing the instructions, printing and laminating the instructions and signage, trying out the activities, trying to figure out how long the activities should take. gathering and organizing the materials. And other things I'm sure Im forgetting. Activities like, doing a maze in a mirror, stacking cups with oven mitts on, doing brain teaser matchstick puzzles. I got simulation glasses for cataracts, blurry vision, diabetic eye diseases.

His class on Monday is pretty much my class on Monday I may also be going in to help facilitate. Especially because if they have questions, I can better answer them since I made the things.

Ahhhh I feel productive. I'm taking a break to YT. I haven't gotten to take a 'break' from something in awhile.

I've been going over and over the instructions and signs and I keep finding things to correct, for about 2 hours now. It kinda feels like trying to wash the shampoo out of your hair as someone keeps squirting more in.

I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT WORK. I FEEL PART OF SOCIETY

So far i have pics of trying them out

Took me about 20 seconds with oven mitts on. I can't tell if it's super easy or I'm just special

Bascally memory/concentration, but only one player and after every turn, their partner switches them all around

I'm about to test out/check the materials for the rest of them

Did your major focus on disability awareness or did you have to research on to of creating activities?
Seems like it'll be thought-provoking for participants

We had a few awareness classes, worked with individuals in the community as well.

In other news, I really like my new hair. I feel much better about looking in the mirror since I dyed it.

I had more news. But I've forgotten it now.

I should say, that the therapeutic rec concentration was allll about working with individuals with differing abilities. I was 1 class short of having that concentration, so i don't technically have the credentials, but i have all the training.

I would have had to do my internship in a therapeutic rec place, under a certified rec therapist, to graduate with that concentration. Which reeeeeally limited my internship placement choices, and just, wasnt quite what i wanted to do. Its usually in a medical type setting, and i was leaning more towards kids/ educational rec.

That's a nice color. I like it.

Oh, the cups are upside down. Going to be difficult to pour beer into them and pretty much impossible to bounce a ping pong ball into.

it seems like you can do great work in that area without having to limit yourself. Good on you chica!

My interbship turned into a job running educational programs at a state park and i LOVED it. I miss it.
Not a lot of opportunties for that here, that i know of (a lot of stuff around here is about who you know/networking) . And i don't speak Spanish which is a must for any working with the public/ schools, etc job.

Im hoping to get back into it somehow someday.

But for now it was reeeeallly nice to be able to program for my husband's class
And i impressed myself, i pulled like 6 activities out of my ass in 2 days, and tweaked the rest from existing activities i had given him for a much smaller class last year.

Ah, self worth.
