My housemates are having a 'domestic' - Mood:Anxious
Monday June 18 20181:26:25 AM |
It's the one girl I don't like (the one who took in the stray dog and wouldn't be responsible about it)

I heard her and her boyfriend yelling from my place so I went up and listened for a minute. He was yelling and swearing a lot at her and she was like begging him to stop and calm down. Not great, but it didn't seem like he was hitting her.

I've met this dude one time, the night of all the stuff, and he was a complete ass to both me and the neighbors who came to help. Just very confrontational with no reason to be.

Anyway, you'd think I would know what to do here, but I kind of froze thinking about it. I didn't want to show myself to the guy for one thing. So eventually I just yelled up "Hey [neighbor] I'm not getting involved, but if you need any - ANY - help, I'm home, so just knock."

I still don't know if it was the right thing. I just hope it didn't make things worse.

Jam-making and canning is hot work. - Mood:Good
Wednesday May 23 20188:22:44 PM |
But I'm going to tell you about it now that I'm home with a cold drink. My grandmother asked for help and so of course I said yes (Also I got jam out of it).

First, you need some strawberries. A lot of strawberries. Like a metric f*ckton (pictured: a tiny fraction of strawberries used):

Wash those guys, cut off the tops, and cut them up into ehh, let's say quarters. Sixths if they're big. Then it helps if you have a food processor to smash em up a little more, but if you don't, just keep cutting. We used one because we are Modern Ladies.

Anyway, smash up 4 cups of those to your desired smushiness/consistency (jam, jelly, preserves, whatever).

Quick color poll - Mood:Good
Thursday May 10 201812:59:16 AM |
I'm putting this project together tomorrow and I can't decide between these eye colors. I like brown, bf and sister have both voted for blue (but they both have blue eyes so I think they're biased ).
(It's an octopus, if that matters)

Venus - Mood:Good
Sunday April 22 20182:08:18 AM |
People are forever tagging me in crochet patterns that I almost always just file away in the "someday maybe, but probably never" pile

But this one called out to me today for whatever reason so I made her.

She's the Venus of Willendorf, a stone figure from the upper Paleolithic period (28,000 - 25,000 BCE). Found in Austria in the 1800s, probably a fertility fetish. Here she is as I made her:
